Phew, I thought this thread had been removed from the forum!
02-03-2021 9:58 PM
Drat - I thought it was well enough hidden in this horrendously jumbled and unreadable mess they've made of the boards that I'd really made the final post in it... 😖

Sorreee, I's founds it!
Looks like he saga will continue 😉 😄

This is where, I think, I have to imitate Basil Fawlty by curling up into a ball and hopping around...?
11-03-2021 11:00 AM
Or can do the silly walk!
11-03-2021 9:51 PM
I dunno about the silly walk, but we're certainly seeing silly board layouts right now...
16-03-2021 12:27 PM
Aye, they are a right ol' mess! Are you finding this new setup faster or slower?
16-03-2021 9:54 PM
Much slower. It's impossible to find the most recent reply quickly - the only way I can do it is to go onto your profile and click "replies" and look for the one dated today. There's no way of getting the thread itself to display most recent.
17-03-2021 2:20 PM
Same here, it was already slow to begin with, now it just takes forever!
The only way I can get the thread to appear in the results, is to sort by Most Commented, as Most Recent seems to only apply to the when the thread was posted, not when the most recent post was made.... which is an incredibly dumb set up!
17-03-2021 9:51 PM
That's correct, it seems to work in that way. The worse thing is clicking on the thread it wants to take one to the first post and then trying to load posts in order...
Why does everything have to be supersized as well? It's a right pain to try to read it...
18-03-2021 3:43 PM
No I've not discovered a way to sort out that issue yet, hopefully there might be something in the settings that can be changed to make it more palletable !
Also hopefully at the end of this mont, the travel restrictions will be lifted and I can go back to Gorton and resume digging.... as long as things are as I left them 😰
18-03-2021 9:38 PM
I've been looking at the settings since the day they changed it, but haven't found anything that makes any difference...
Regarding the restrictions, would it count as outdoor recreation? That's allowed now although the stay at home rule itself remains in place until the 29th.
Just testing to see if the photo attachments function works; if it does - and it seems to be the one thing they have improved on the boards as it's a lot easier now - you should see a sunset here.
22-03-2021 2:15 PM
I tried the settings too, found a bunch of stuff, but none of it useful 😞
22-03-2021 10:16 PM
Exactly.
It's all completely useless now.
Except for the photo posting function.
06-04-2021 3:57 PM
Could be worse... it is eBay afterll!
06-04-2021 10:50 PM
You certainly speak the truth there...
How is the exploration going on now that the restreictions have eased sufficiently?
16-04-2021 10:53 AM
Went back to Gorton finally as you saw, good and bad news about the site... the good news is that the barriers have been removed, which means I don't have to scale down the slope, or take the long way round to get to the site and the bits that were going to be landscaped, have been landscaped! The bad news is, this leaves me quite visible from the road and pavement... also I think someone went down into my hole, or dumped some debri inside, unfortunately I wasn't able to check inside properly, as I didn't have my selfie stick or a decent enough light to strap on it.
Before I do any more digging this Sunday, I'll definitely be having to check inside, hopefully all is as I left it.... crumbling! Anyway, really ancient bottle last Sunday, wonder what will turn up this time!?
16-04-2021 10:30 PM
If the barriers have been removed... would that be an indiaction that contractors are about to access the site?
19-04-2021 1:57 PM
The area had barriers, because of the work they were doing to the road and pavement, the actual area of the embankment they had already sorted out.
So I went back this Sunday, got down a lot further than I was expecting, so this Sunday I need to take my larger spade, also need to bring some type of covering, so I can put it up and hyde myself while excavating.
I also checked the original chamber, it seems that whilst the chamber itself is fine, the entrance way has collapsed a bit, so I think it would probably be safer for me to remove the top soil and bricks to secure the area.
19-04-2021 11:49 PM
Ah, so they were working next to it rather than on it, then?
When you say "collapsed a bit" do you mean since your last visit?
