What's with all these ridiculous new "badges"?

Is it just me, or are others insulted by the infantilisation of this board, and being awarded badges, for "being helpful", or whatever?

I'm a grown up, not a child. I don't need badges so others can see how helpful I am.

My 3 year old granddaughter get awarded badges at nursery school, for acheiving things like washing her hands, brushing her teeth, being nice to her little sister etc., and quite honestly, it feels like I'm seen by ebay, as having about the same mental age as her!

We're all adults here; I just wish eBay would treat us as such.

Over promise, then under deliver = negative buyer experience, INR cases, unhappy buyers and sellers.
Under promise, then over deliver = Positive buyer experience, joy and happiness all round.
If only eBay could get their heads round this basic concept, this would be a happier place for all.

Oh great. Perhaps I’ll go back to my old school and see if I can get a sticker for eating all my dinner. 🙄

Yes I had noticed this around 11am this morning, that must have been when the ebay team finally read the thread they where commenting on!

Thanks Douglas, hadn't noticed it had been reassigned.  What a clever idea for reducing visibility.

Will all the vitriol about the new lister and the lack of choice be reassigned as well?  Or will it get its own area "ebay Foodbank for ideas we'd rather ignore"?

The comments aren't going to stop until they finish sending out the badges and with two more releases to come there's some way to go yet. Unless it is closed down in the meantime.

They dont take any notice of surveys anyway, so that would be as much use as a chocolate tea pot 😂 I find most of my questions are on here anyway, IF NOT, I will post and ask the question, eBay really need to focus their attentions on sorting this s**t show of a site out, instead of worrying why people dont post on here 🙄 lol

We used to have little red, silver, and gold stick on stars that was stuck when appropriate in our books.

And lets face it, judging by their work most of the eBay programmers are still at school collecting their own stickers. Which is probably where the idea originated.

I only have 25. I blame that on my 10 year plus ban on the boards.

Otherwise I'd probably be on 40.😀

Utter joke...................how do i stop being notified about badges, absolutely ridiculous.

In my forum profile menu under subscriptions and bookmarks is notification settings. It turns out there's a section for "badges I have earned". It has a dropdown menu, allegedly for how often I get notified about these badges. Mine is already set to never but I think it's only for the emails. I don't think I can stop only the badge push notifications (that bell thing in the top corner) without turning them all off.

Plus have you noticed this thread has been reassigned to the cafe where it's less visible.🤔

That must be correct, as I get the badges but not the email notifications. Fortunately I have just sufficient self-esteem to get through the day without being notified what a good boy I’ve been.

I've just awarded myself a new badge, much more exciting than the eBay ones which are only a distraction if you happen to notice them or when you get that annoying alert. Get past the flurry and we will all not notice or think about them again.

Hate to say it though but I wasn't unhappy when I received a helpful from a member of the community team. Possibly more encouraging as they are handed out sparingly as opposed to just for being there.

Pardon me for breathing, which I never do anyway so I don't know why I bother to say it, Oh God, I'm so depressed

Curious that people are getting email notifications about their badges.  I'm not.  Wouldn't have known I had them, had the postings not prompted me to go and look.

Is this due to yet another glitch in the system?  Not that I want such emails, of course.  More likely it's just a setting, somewhere on Alpha Centauri, that you can turn off.

Meanwhile I shall wear my "I'm not getting notifications about my shiny badges" badge with pride and gratitude.

eBay aren’t doing themselves any favours . I was awarded my '10 replies badge' earlier this morning (woo hoo.) Five minutes later I was awarded the same badge again. Curious, I followed the link and looked up my tally of badges and found that my '100replies badge' (yes, that’s one hundred, not a typo) was dated May of this year.

This is chronologically inept and does make eBay look a bit silly. Hardly encouraging from a competence point of view when an organisation can’t even get the unnecessary trivia right.

On a positive note, at least that poor Ms. Truss can rest assured she'll have no difficulty finding employment at eBay HQ if her current job doesn’t work out. Every cloud, eh?

Good Morning,

Wanted to note here that email notifications are turned off. This is to prevent overloading the system and to not flood members with emails. They will be turned back on later.

Reply badges existed before today so that's why you will see May for a lot of them. Today we will be adding 3 more numbers e.g. 10 replies to it.

Thanks,

Katie

Now that you posted that comment you'llmost probably have 35.

I believe theres also a badge for "35 badges" so you'll have 36.

There's no stopping you now.

What a complete and utter waste of time. The badges mean nothing.

I would have llike them to spend their time sorting out the listing tool which woul be 1000 time better then badges......

I wonder if I'll get a badge for this post.....Hopefully not.

I wonder if they are going to award badges for having posts removed. If they are I'd like one. My post was removed from this thread for sharing my opinion the badges. Apparently a poo emoji badge is vulgar. I think a certain person on the community team is rather sensitive about them, maybe because it was their daft idea.

So why are you taking absolutely no notice of the opinions of the community?

NO ONE wants these, apart from "the team".
