Is it just me, or are others insulted by the infantilisation of this board, and being awarded badges, for "being helpful", or whatever?
I'm a grown up, not a child. I don't need badges so others can see how helpful I am.
My 3 year old granddaughter get awarded badges at nursery school, for acheiving things like washing her hands, brushing her teeth, being nice to her little sister etc., and quite honestly, it feels like I'm seen by ebay, as having about the same mental age as her!
We're all adults here; I just wish eBay would treat us as such.

I have just put my mittens on and better behave now 😁
Toodles off to list a load of items i have no clue about ......

Also Mentors used to be green, now they are muddy magenta and the rest of us are green - can we look forward to differing shades as well as silly titles?
And on a more serious note, how will a newcomer know whose advice is likely to be sound? Does Ace trump Advisor? Are Conversationalists' answers less reliable than Guides? Who knows? (Who cares?)

Would eBay be the piano?
Washboard and thimbles?
Woke up this morning to a slew of notifications. Thought this thread was hibernating for the winter, but no, ebay has prodded the bear! Bring on the clowns and the acrobats (with blunt scissors, of course).

Apparently I'm now an advisor.
Plus I thought the daft badges had stopped but today I got a guide badge whatever the heck that is.
I'm not at primary school or spotty teenager in need of goals and constant affirmative praise.
If I must have badges how about some realistic ones like most sarcastic comments or removed posts.
Or better still a thumbs down button so I can award unhelpful points towards a badge for that.

Apparently the guide thing wasn't a badge it was a ranking but I'm still an advisor, though I'd rather be a timelord or Darth Vader. At least then I could wear a costume not like a virtual badge.

" to be downgraded from Community Expert"
Well a 'Mentor' is just a new name for 'community expert'.
21-11-2022 11:16 AM
and that is exactly what i did not want........
On the upside if i am back up to the level that i requested katie to downgrade me from.....do i get a free £20 Ebay gift voucher like last year? lol

Ebay are changing the deal. Pray they do not change it again!

I'm on my way to my most posts edited badge. Lol.

I'm going for the removed one!
TBH I'm seriously thinking of just going ... this is becoming a very silly place to be 😞

Am i having a blonde moment ........or were we not Community Mentors before they changed us to Community Experts?

Yes I think you were. Isn't that just like eBay to be totally fickle.
You deserve an award for noticing, let's call it the retrograde badge.

This is hilarious. My previous post (178) has me labelled a 'Conversationalist'. In the space of eight minutes this morning I was ranked as a Member at 9.50am, an Engager at 9.56am and a Guide at 9.58am
Now I'm a Guide I suppose I'd better go and have realignment surgery...

I need something....currently listing items. Done 8 and totally had my head done in with item specifics etc lol

Simon, I think you and I can agree on who needs realignment surgery, and it's not the ones receiving badges!

I see ebay have managed to kick start this thread again. I've just logged on to find I am an engager and now a guide. We wondered if .UK would follow .com with their labels and here we are.

And where did the Ace come in?!

Fortunately I was wearing a Tena Lady when I read your response, John.
In addition to Experienced Mentor (but no Inexperienced Mentors apparently) we now appear to have ranks of Conversationalist, Member, Engager, Guide, Ace and Advisor. Someone has to ask so it may as well be me:
Who's the biggest ranker?
😂
