Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 17.09.25 @2pm

Hello,

Is there any update on the US Tariffs situation? Still no clarity on the questions raised previously.

- some people have been told GSP to the USA is suspended, so far orders we have shipped to the USA with GSP have not yet arrived, but perhaps GSP is always quite slow?

The issue is not the tariffs really but how eBay is collecting them etc, especially as they have to be paid up front if not using GSP.

Is it possible to have a GSP shipping policy for the USA, and a general non GSP shipping policy for everywhere else (we are having to manually switch it for each order to the USA…

Good afternoon Team

A while back eBay were so excited to inform all the business sellers that eBay would be introducing auto generated  positive feedback.  This would take place if buyers did not leave feedback themselves by a certain time period, providing the item was shipped and delivered on time with no issues.

I noted that this in fact did take place, as we had lots of the eBay generated  auto positive feedbacks.  However, it appears this has stopped despite having a good few weeks of selling (its gone dead now)

Is there an issue with the auto feedback.

Best wishes

Hi reynardnoirrailwayana2015, thanks for your question.

No, GSP is not suspended to the USA. You can still use GSP and ship to the USA, the only thing you need to take into consideration for your items to be eligible is that you need to enter manufacturer info to your listings to be eligible for GSP now. Regarding updates, this article here is still the latest update we have available.

Regarding GSP for USA and no GSP for the rest of the countries you can ship to, yes, you can do this.

You just need to add GSP to your listing, and then you need to exclude all the countries you don't want to ship to using GSP. In that way, GSP will be used for the US only, and your own postage method for the rest of countries. If you click here, there is a video of how to do it.

Thank you,

Marco

Hi lincolnshiremarine, thanks for your question.

Let me follow up this one for you, as far as I know it should be working as usual, but I will double check for you no problem. Once I get confirmation, I will let you know. If it is working and you're not getting any, I will report it to see if there is anything preventing this from happening to your account.

Thank you,

Marco

Thanks for your reply, reynardnoirrailwayana2015.

If you are shipping on your own (without GSP), you are ok to do this, but this is completely up to you. Regarding updates, as advised in the reply above, that's all our latest information on it.

Thank you,

Marco

Hi Marco

I would really appreciate that,  I have looked back on all the sales and looked at the feedback left by the sellers, we should have had quite a large number of eBay generated auto feedbacks due to sales volume and no feedback left by the buyers.  As said we have not.

Best wishes

another problem i have found is when listing a book  you need to add the author and book title as a requirement before you can list the item so i have done this so the item can be listed ,so why when i do a bulk edit to listed items why is the book title & author  these at flagged as needing to be fixed (listings failed due to listing errors ) as already added when listed  and now the details are missing ? why has ebay removed the book details ? when bulk editing (it does the same with comics)

Hi @dantwocats

New add on features usually go through test phases so when its no longer showing its going through a review phase. We don't have a set date for it to return right now.

Thank you,

Kat

Hi dantwocats, thanks for your question.

This could be either a technical issue, or something triggering the error you're referring to. In this case, I would recommend contacting customer service, so they can look into this for you. If they confirm this is a technical issue, they will be able to report it for you and get it resolved. Otherwise, they will be able to confirm what's triggering this for you, and what to do to prevent it from happening again in the future.

Thank you,

Marco

Hi @dantwocats ,

They do, through the feedback question mark icon at the end of the eBay pages.

Thank you,

Kat

How should we handle customs charges for orders from the US? We can purchase Royal Mail labels on their site, but I’m being asked to pay the customs charge which is no longer being collected at checkout. UPS is much more expensive for small packages. Can we ask the buyer to pay the extra? If they refuse to pay customs when it arrives it'll get returned and we've lost the money spent on postage.

Currently I’m wanting to suspend sales to the US, but as I use postage policies it won’t let me use the option in Postage preferences, I have to go through each policy individually. Is there another approach I can use that will be quicker? I’ve already done it once using Excluded locations to select North America, South America and “Central America & Carribean” but I had another US order yesterday

Also, I tried searching the forum, but it’s not easy to find information - I wrote “customs” in quotes, but it still gave me lots of incorrect results for “customers” and the “custom” part of “custom delivery”
