Hi everybody!
The Community Chat will open at 2pm and will remain open until 3pm on Wednesday. After that it will be closed for further questions. Of course, we will continue to take care of answering any questions that may still be unanswered—We’ll get to everything as quickly as possible.
Please ask your questions in the thread below. In order to be able to answer your questions as quickly as possible, we ask you to have one question per post. Of course, you can make as many posts as you like in the Chat- the more the merrier!
Our eBay Community Team is made up of dave@ebay and marco@ebay . Between us, we have knowledge in Buying, Selling, Fulfilment, Payments, and the Community itself. Anything we aren’t sure on we’ll know the people who will be! Please ask us any questions you may have and we’ll do all we can to support. We understand that certain topics, such as concerns about businesses possibly using private accounts, can be frustrating and important to you. Please refrain from asking the same question repeatedly in our weekly live chats. We assure you that we carefully review all posts in the forum and ensure that your concerns are communicated to the relevant teams for appropriate action.
To maintain a constructive and community environment, posts that repeatedly breach this guideline may be removed. Continued violations could result in further action against your community account. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in helping us keep our community focused and respectful.
To ask your question, click Reply in the lower-right corner of this post, type your question, and click Reply between 2pm and 3pm. The community team will answer each incoming question in chronological order and will quote the original question in each answer.
Please note that any reply without a question to the community team or discussion replies may be removed from the chat. We want to keep on track to get through as many questions as possible. We welcome all discussion to be moved to the discussion boards.
If you missed the weekly chat time, please ask your question in the community boards and tag us or we will be back next week with another chat!
Many thanks,
Your eBay Community Team

2nd Question
I want to edit the answers to the FAQs I have set up but it seems I cannot edit them or delete them
As I sell time-sensitive products, I’d really like to highlight in as many places as I can to my buyers that eBay’s estimated delivery dates shouldn't be relied upon, as they often don't reflect real postal timelines.
Why can they not be edited?
Hi krafty-kreations, thanks for your question.
I was checking a couple of items of you there, and I couldn't find any FAQs, do you have an item item number as example, so I can take a further look for you please? Not sure if this is now not working for you, or maybe it was deleted?
Thank you,
Marco

Is it possible to block SELLERS - rather than wasting time browsing, only to find a stumbling block at the end?

Hi @krafty-kreations ,
Thank you for the details. I'll get that logged with tech and let you know of updates.
Thank you,

Thanks for your reply, equinox-electronics.
Could you please confirm an item number or 2, and what device you're using, its software version, and the current eBay version, so I can take a look for you?
Thank you,
Marco

Thanks for the other week when you gave me the definition for what comprised a VIEW on the bidding page. However i didnt see where you answered my question as to why the VIEWED number decreases, especially when judged against the definition you supplied.

dave@ebay marco@ebay kat@ebay Regarding an issue i had with your chosen couriers last week, i posted in the weekly chat and received a standard response. The manager of authenticity would have been made aware of this issue, i have had no response, i messaged you all direct and received no response. It would be nice to receive a reply to this but i know i won't get one. Ive gone through all channels, contacting support, passing feedback and recommendations to the weekly chats.
Should i as a seller have to be contacting 'YOUR COURIERS' to arrange redeliveries and to get answers why YOUR couriers lied about delivery?
The worst 2 couriers in UK DPD and EVRI and ebay pick them.....
Surely you and the others must see the frustrations by all members on this site now? When is there going to be improvements for business sellers? noone is dealing with anything.
THe weekly chats needs some input from an actual manager of ebay , the managers also need to start reading the forum posts as they clearly are not doing.
Absolutely fuming with the lack of responses and unwillingness from all the ebay team at the moment to actually try to help business sellers and improve things.

Good afternoon!
The picture shows 2 items listed in the Crafts category, both 18g (under 100g with packaging), and both listed for £2.25. Both are just a folded piece of paper with instructions on it.
The one on the left is a knitting pattern, and quite rightly, I have the opportunity to opt out of SD and list it with £1.55 postage - all that is needed for me to send it with a stamp.
However, the one on the right is a pattern chart for a rug design - there is no option to opt out in this sub category, so I had to list with SD and £2.70 postage (making it unlikely to sell).
They are both in the same main category, so why no option to opt out? I would imagine that a paper pattern/instructions, would be an option in EVERY sub category in the Crafts category, so there really should be an opt out in each sub category.
Hi @clocla-0 ,
Thank you for the examples. It does look like the custom postage option should be available for the second listing. Can you share the listing numbers or the draft links of both and I will share this feedback with the shipping team.
Thank you,
Kat

I ask a question on a subject that has had many questions asked within the community chat but has been very quiet recently – the question of ‘Business seller’ trading as ‘Private sellers’.
I personally don’t have any issue with the genuine ‘Private seller’, just those that are pretty obviously ‘Business sellers’ who are breaking ebay’s own rules which state
Business sellers are required to follow all government regulations, including registering as a business on eBay, and providing contact information and a return policy.
An eBay seller must register as a business if, for example, they sell items they have bought to resell, they make items in order to sell them, or if they buy items for their business.
But also breaking the terms the DMCC Act, and UK commercial law.
I have been following a seller who is registered as a ‘Private seller’. They presently have just over 300 items listed, all brand new, mostly within the range £30 to £100. In the week 7th to 13th June they sold 64 items with a value of approx. £3500. And quite a number of those that sold were duplicates.
Now it doesn’t take too much to work out that they MUST be a business seller according to ebays rules and UK commercial law.
I could give an example of a search which when you look at the completed nearly every one is from a ‘Private seller’ who has multiple copies of brand new items.
Can we assume that ebay isn’t really bothered about these sellers who not only are breaking UK law and ebay’s terms of trading?
These sellers will obviously be able to undercut genuine sellers (who provide a huge amount of income to ebay)
Hi funkybunnie-direct, thanks for your message.
If you see a seller that you believe might be against our policies, please report them and that will make us review it and take actions accordingly. However, please note that we wouldn't be able to share the outcome of these reviews as they can only be shared with the account holder. However, I will take notes of this and pass it on as I understand where you are coming from.
Thank you,
Marco

Thanks for the reply Marco, but just the standard pasted reply that is received when asking this type of question. How are we supposed to report a seller (almost impossible now the old system of reporting has been removed)?

Hello Team,
Our business model on eBay requires that our listings are best presented using dropdown/variation format.
What we have been struggling with since the seller hub changed drastically about two years ago in terms of layout, is managing our stock levels.
With the old layout, we could zip through variations and update their quantities via bulk editor. Now, we have to go to each individual listing in bulk editor, go to the back end of the listing then go to their variations. With almost 200 listings in variation format, it can take 4 hours to properly go through them all. What is worse is that lines are sometimes on zero stock for a variation with plenty of stock in the warehouse but we are not aware, which also tanks our sales overall.
Please advise.
Thanks
Yanike
It might be worth trying one of our partner providers. They provide a number of different solutions which might make things easier to manage.
You can find a list of our Partner Service Providers here.

Hi auctiongabble, thanks for your post.
As advised last week, we wouldn't visibility or the ability to work/assit with AG transactions. So, we can only recommend you to contact our customer service team, AG has a designated team for these transactions, so they will look into it for you and take it from there. If you need a follow up on this, you need to contact them directly.
Thank you,
Marco

Can I please share some honest feedback? It feels like eBay may be losing its way.
In just a few short months, we've seen the introduction of BPF, Simple Delivery, and now this new promotions model—all of which seem primarily focused on generating more revenue for eBay, but at the cost of making things more expensive and difficult for sellers.
I completely understand that eBay is a business and needs to make money. However, it’s disheartening that long-standing issues, like private accounts being used by obvious business sellers to avoid fees, are still not being addressed. Meanwhile, genuine, committed sellers—many of whom are also loyal buyers—are being pushed away by these changes.
You can only keep taking so much before people simply walk away. I truly hope eBay listens to its seller community before more of us feel forced to do just that.

I tried adding a courier's tracking details to a sale this morning. The courier is APC. I get a message saying that another seller has already used that tracking number so I'm unable to add it. APC (and perhaps others) do re-use consignment numbers. How can I add this to my sale to ensure I am compliant ?
I contacted customer services and was told that I need to contact the courier so they can "unlock" the tracking number. This doesn't sound right to me.
Please advise.

Hi @a45heaven ,
View counts are usually based on rolling periods which can cause increases and decreases in the numbers.

marco@ebay With respect, with regard to business sellers masquerading as private sellers, many of us have been reporting these regularly for months, if not years, and, in my own experience, action is taken in only around 20% of reports I have submitted.
You visit Seller Central and the Business Sellers' Board regularly, and you know how hot a topic this is, and has been for years.
eBay is clearly not taking the action they should be, and is overcharging (possibly illegally, as the sellers are trading illegally) every single buyer from these bogus sellers, on every single transaction. There should be no BPF on any of these sales, as you will no doubt appreciate.
Apart from anything else, eBay must be losing a fortune in uncollected fees.
You (eBay that is, not you personally) really need to sort this out.

You are still able to report a seller. If you click here, you should be able to report them.
