Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 01.10.25 @2pm

Hi everybody!

The Community Chat will open at 2pm and will remain open until 3pm on Wednesday. After that it will be closed for further questions. Of course, we will continue to take care of answering any questions that may still be unanswered—We’ll get to everything as quickly as possible.

Please ask your questions in the thread below. In order to be able to answer your questions as quickly as possible, we ask you to have one question per post. Of course, you can make as many posts as you like in the Chat- the more the merrier!

Our eBay Community Team is made up of kat@ebay, marco@ebay and dave@ebay. Between us, we have knowledge in Buying, Selling, Fulfilment, Payments, and the Community itself. Anything we aren’t sure on we’ll know the people who will be! Please ask us any questions you may have and we’ll do all we can to support. We understand that certain topics, such as concerns about businesses possibly using private accounts, can be frustrating and important to you. Please refrain from asking the same question repeatedly in our weekly live chats. We assure you that we carefully review all posts in the forum and ensure that your concerns are communicated to the relevant teams for appropriate action.
To maintain a constructive and community environment, posts that repeatedly breach this guideline may be removed. Continued violations could result in further action against your community account. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in helping us keep our community focused and respectful.

To ask your question, click Reply in the lower-right corner of this post, type your question, and click Reply between 2pm and 3pm. The community team will answer each incoming question in chronological order and will quote the original question in each answer.

Please note that any reply without a question to the community team or discussion replies may be removed from the chat. We want to keep on track to get through as many questions as possible. We welcome all discussion to be moved to the discussion boards.

If you missed the weekly chat time, please ask your question in the community boards and tag us or we will be back next week with another chat!

Many thanks,

Your eBay Community Team

Why is there no longer an item dispatched box on the order page? Sending an email stating that a business seller is packing your order is useless and unhelpful.

If delivery estimates are based on buyers location why are the 2 Evri parcels I'm waiting for show an EDD of Wednesday and Friday? At my location Evri only delivers on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Hi @leadhills_scot ,

Thank you for the feedback. Can you share an example of your view of this box no longer being there?

Thank you,

Kat

Hi leadhills_scot, thanks for your question.

Estimated delivery dates are not just based on buyers location only, there are multiple factors involved before an estimated delivery date is calculated. If you share with me the 2 examples, I can take a look for you to make sure it is working correctly.

Thank you,

Marco

Good afternoon Team,

Yodel have merged with InPost, this may be news to eBay?

Since they have, there has been considerable disruption to the deliveries from Yodel due to technical issues whilst they migrate the companies together.

You can read about it at the link at the top of the Yodel home page

https://www.yodel.co.uk/

You can also read more information about it at the InPost page, that is linked from the top of the Yodel page

https://inpost.co.uk/service-update

It has been like this for a couple of weeks since they merged.

They announced the merger in plenty of time, but obviously did not anticipate there would be so many technical issues with tracking updates not working and such.

We have had a couple of weeks of issues with buyers not understand, not caring and being rude too.

Why is there nothing happening from eBay in regard to this?

No announcements?

No seller protections?

No emails to messages to any eBay users at all explaining there are technical issues whilst they merge?

Just sellers getting the flack, when we are doing nothing wrong, again!!

Thank you

Russ

No, as it was my O/H who received it on his account. There is a thread in seller central about this as well.

Hi @ducatimondo,

I'd imagine this is something they are aware of, but I'll pass this post over to the shipping team to review. I'll let you know what they come back with.

Thanks,

Dave

Hi @leadhills_scot ,

The option to dispatch is not there for Simple Delivery orders as the system automatically sets it to dispatched.

Thank you,

Kat

Hi leadhills_scot, thanks for your post.

I've just checked this, and it seems to be correct, please note that both orders are from different sellers from different locations, that's why you're getting different dates. If they deliver during certain days in your area, that's fine, that's why you get an estimated of 2-4 days normally, and the carrier will most likely meet the criteria. If late or lost, you can always file an item not received case, so you can get help.

Thank you,

Marco

It was NOT a simple delivery order. The business seller sent the large letter item with no tracking.

Hi @leadhills_scot ,

Are you the buyer in this situation? The seller may not have marked it as dispatched if there was no tracking. As its your other half's account I can't take the details of the transaction but if your other half wants us to check the transaction details they can reach out on their account.

Thank you,

Kat

As a ebay member for nearly 25 years and an ex seller I'm fully aware of all that. It would be useful  if it actually stated what service is being used then I can in future avoid any seller that only offers Evri.

I'm just bringing it to your attention he was not happy having no idea what was going on which means he is less likely to buy on ebay in the future.

As it is the item went missing and the seller refunded him.

Thanks for your input, leadhills_scot.

I will share your feedback as well, that's no problem.

Thank you,

Marco

Hi @leadhills_scot ,

Appreciate you feeding it back and we can share this internally. While we do advise sellers to mark items as dispatched and to track the items as much as possible the are occasions where they do not do this which can result  in a poor buying experience.

Thank you,

Kat

Your ISBN checker appears to have been broken for ages. Will this be fixed any time soon?

Hi @iansims

What's the issue you're having with it? Is it suggesting wrong books or just not working?

Thanks,

Dave
