When did you ask for a cancellation?  The seller may not have seen it yet, and respond later.  You will know it's been actioned when eBay send you a message that the cancellation has been made and a refund processed.

The refund goes back to original payment source,  and is not instant.  If you paid with a credit card it can take up to 30 days,  to appear back in the card account used.

If they refuse the cancellation, silly in my humble opinion, but if they do, then after 7 days open a case for item not received.  Escalate on day 4,  if not refunded beforehand, eBay step in and force the refund.

Come back to us at any stage,  if you need any more help with this case.

seller has no option but to cancel and refund, as your unable to collect.  contact them and say you made a mistake as were all human. no reason why they shouldn't.

The seller does have the option to refuse a cancellation.

Ebay rules regarding cancellations are very clear.

Buyers can ASK to cancel.

Sellers can ACCEPT or DENY their request.

As advised by @tressygirl , after 7 days the buyer is able to open an 'item not received' case and get a refund.

If you bought a collection only item in error and couldn't collect, asked to cancel, the seller refused and you didn't then pay, the seller could wait 4 days to cancel and give the buyer a non-payment strike.

Buyers can't cancel a sale - only the seller can.
