incomplete items

It must have been two years ago when I bought a copy of the Liverpool Echo from May 1971 and, when I got it, I was horrified to discover that most of the paper was missing - absolutely f*****g horrified. To add insult to injury, yesterday I got a copy of the Daily Mirror (originally pitched at middle-class women when first published in 1903) from 4 June 1977...with part of pages 23 and 24 cut out. And the seller had the absolute nerve to describe it as a 'handy collector's item'. If there are pages missing (or part of a page cut out) then the seller should mention this in both the title and condition, as well as the description or better still, not list it at all.

Listing incomplete items for sale (such as old newspapers) shouldn't be allowed on eBay because that robs the buyer of their enjoyment of it. One of Pierre Omidyar's principles when founding eBay was to drive unscrupulous sellers away. However, it seems that a few have slipped through that net. So, my advice to anyone selling an old copy of say the Daily Star is to make sure it's complete and all pages intact before you even list it otherwise just consign it to the recycling tub.

Re: incomplete items

If the damage or pissing pages weren't declared in the listing open a Not as Described case.

Re: incomplete items

Its straight forward, you open an item not as described case, the seller provides you a label and you return the item for a full refund, under the Ebay MBG. You have 30 days after the last estimated delivery date to do this.

As for your item bought two years ago, there is nothing that can be done about that.

Re: incomplete items

To do that would be churlish on so many levels...especially when the seller went out of his way to be courteous. However, I'm holding back what I would like to say to him once I get my refund and it would be along the lines of 'you shouldn't have listed it in the first place'.

Re: incomplete items

why would requesting a return for a refund of a product that wasn't as described be churlish on any level? let alone many.

It is the process required?

Re: incomplete items

I didn't say requesting a return was churlish, did I? I said that to open an 'item not as described' case would be churlish on so many levels in this case (returning an old newspaper with part of a page missing) as the seller was polite. That is what I was replying to...you suggesting I open an 'item not as described' case or maybe you need to go to Specsavers?

Re: incomplete items

But however polite your seller was, the item was 'not as described' so that's the case you need to open.

Re: incomplete items

If a newspaper with a page missing isn't an item not as described - what is it? Seller was polite? So what? It doesn't really change what you want - which appears to be a refund?  If you want the refund, there's a process to follow.

I agree it should have been listed better in the first place - but you are where you are. I have no idea what you want as an outcome unfortunately.
