Yet yet yet again I've been promised a delivery date but it has passed without receiving the purchase.
All the good sellers have left and gone to Amazon due to high fees charged by eBay. The result is we're left with the false dates that hook the buyers in with unrealistic delivery dates.
I got the tracking number but the info shows item not yet posted. The seller is always sorry for the delay and promises an investigation, I've heard that one a dozen times!
eBay will keep them in business because eBay just grabs the fees. I've said it before that I'm closing my account with this latest episode it looks more likely I will finish buying on eBay

You have 30 days from estimated delivery date given to open an official 'Item not received' case below --- follow the instructions carefully and escalate to eBay on day 4 for their assistance in obtaining a full refund --- more case options here >

If you look at the topic 'DHL not collecting', of which I've just responded to you'll also see that sellers are getting frustrated with the shambles that is DHL. Its embarrassing as a seller not to be able to deliver on time when the items aren't being collected from us in the first place....
14-11-2025 10:26 AM
One reason for this is that ebays estimated delivery dates are often fabricated, there are many threads covering this here. If you buy an item at 11pm on the 14th of November, it will give you an ETA of the 16th of November, even though the seller has 3 days to ship and then itll often take 48 hours from then. Its impossible for it to arrive on the 16th unless paying for next day shipping, but ebay will still tell buyers this because they want to compete with other websites that offer next day delivery etc. Orders rarely if ever show up on ebays ETA.
And yes also doesnt help that regardless of which delivery company you use, they all seem to be in shambles. I also had an order held at DHL recently for 2 weeks. When the customer chased it and had to go to the depot personally to talk to them, they told her the label was intended for home collection. So their solution was to just do nothing? Why accept it in the first place? Why not reach out, update the tracking to say this, anything at all wouldve been nice. Instead all the tracking showed was "parcel received". I think if they accepted the parcel they should send it, who cares if its meant for home collection, they have the item now! So she had to take the parcel home and arrange collection, so that DHL can take it back to their depot to send....
Even Royal Mail have been dire lately. My postie just leaves parcels on my doorstep, doesnt even knock. Last time I caught him opened the door as he walked off and I said "thanks then!", he just ignored me. They also "lost" 8k worth of goods just this week that my friend sent special delivery signed for. And of course they wont be paying that back out. Its all becoming extremely unreliable.

why not leave feedback to reflect your experiences?

Thanks for tour reply fargvs, I'm still hoping the item will be delivered. I'm giving the seller a chance to descover the reason why Royal Mail hasn't fulfilled their duty to ensure delivery.

why not leave feedback to reflect your experiences?
Because currently it is not possible to leave feedback targeted at ebays portion of disasters, rather than penalising Sellers.
For example with SD - Reasonable postage cost, Delivery Time and to a degree Communication (due to failures in the ability to send and receive messages on the platform) are all factors which ebay control not the Seller.

Thanks for your reply jason266. The problems with deliveries, lt seems to be with the couriers, that is if the seller is being honest about the date listed. It's up to the seller to chase up none fulfilment of deliveries.
I'm not interested in reasons or excuses from the sellers if they list a fictitious unachievable date, I have paid immediately so I expect the proper service.
I can rely on a date for a delivery with Amazon even when delivered by Evri. eBay are not acting responsibly, if they were then a date listed should be genuine and a receipt of postage should be available for the buyer to see. Though I suppose that could be forged, maybe?

Thanks for your reply smarts-gaming. As I mentioned above I'm not interested in problems or excuses about couriers. If the seller continues to use the same courier after problems with them, then the prob;ems will continue. So far, I've had no problems with Evri. Even Evri delivers on time with purchases made on Amazon from private sellers. So if I may make the suggestion, stop using the bad couriers. I'm waiting for a response from the seller, meantime the item may be delivered.

Thank you for your reply plpmr. I'm saving any feedback until the final outcome of this latest failure to deliver on time.

As smarts-gaming wrote, sellers do not get to list a delivery date. As a seller I get to choose my handling time and that is all, Ebay then totally ignore this and calculate their own estimated delivery time based on some weird algorithm (AI?). All this does is upsets buyers but Ebay aren't interested in fixing it as they state that it is working as designed.
I'm interested in your definition of proper service. For me, if I need something urgently I go to a physical shop. If it's not urgent I'm happy to wait a few days for delivery as I understand that smaller businesses and private sellers don't have a huge team of people to pick, pack and despatch orders nor do they have a team of delivery drivers. Personally I don't like Amazon and would never use them as they may provide a 'proper' service but at what cost to their staff.

Well I actually use Evri too and I also find them very reliable. However searching these forums you will find 100s of posts about people who have awful experiences with Evri. There is no reliable courier at the moment. Evri IS reliable for me, but it all depends on your local drivers. Evri have completely destroyed 3 of my items in transit, but thats out of 200 so I accept it.
And as the other guy said, sellers dont enter a delivery date. Ebay does that all by themselves. Sellers have 3 days to send the item. Next time you order just be aware that the item can likely take a week to arrive. Ignore ebays ETA, it is never right and is auto generated. Its not the sellers fault. Amazon have massive warehouses crammed with cheaply made chinese goods ready to whip out to you on a whim. Ebay has private sellers with full time jobs and busy lives hoping to make it to the post office in time after work.

Thank you for your reply crafty_cat_lover. In what you say amounts to eBay breaking the sale of goods act in the UK. I ordered the item with the date of 2 days delivery so that's why I ordered it. Now the seller is making me wait longer while they trace whats happened to the item. I don't expect to reveive delivery before Wed 19th. That's 8 days after the date listed. I have finally reach the decision I am not using eBay.

Thank you for your reply smarts-gaming. eBay are therefore breaking the sale of goods act in the UK.
I also mentioned above I will not use eBay now. I was issued a tracking number but the item kis still marked as not yet posted 4 days after the issue. I'm sure this seller didn't have the item listed and are waiting for their delivery so they can post mine. I now no longer need the item if it arrives at all. I will sell it somewhere else other than eBay. I won't return it to the seller as I will lose out on the deal. eBay are gradually losing buyers and probably sellers or are satisfied with a turnover of sellers and buyers.

So now I've found out a tracking number is issued on the printing of the postal delivery label but the item isn't posted. That needs to be changed It's a right con trick.
14-11-2025 7:42 PM
Private sellers are forced to use simple delivery. As soon as the seller prints the label, it shows as dispatched, which it obviously has not been. Ebay uses that as the basis for estimating the delivery timescale, with the result that buyers are given unrealistic information. Sellers have a chosen handling time, which may be several days. I am always able to dispatch same day as I print the label, if for any reason I was not going to be able to post for a couple of days, I would wait until then before printing the label.

I find Amazon tends to be more expensive.
They almost always charge for postage too.
I was looking for power supplies on Amazon.
I found one for £4.99 and £4.99 p+p
Great I will have 5.
They then tried to charge me 5 lots of p+p too !!!!
15-11-2025 6:41 AM
The seller I've purchased from is being dishonest. Now trying to blame Royal Mail for delay.
It's obvious to me they didn't have the item to post but printed the delivery label.
The seller is a business not a private seller. I'm not using eBay now for anything
15-11-2025 6:48 AM
I'm finding that Amazon is becoming level on price as eBay in quite a few cases. I use a method of avoiding postage costs with Amazon but it's a trade secret
15-11-2025 8:14 AM
If you want something via a guaranteed delivery date, I simply wouldn’t expect that of sellers (certainly not private sellers) on eBay.
ebays product pages even state as such ESTIMATED Delivery Date.
