Stopping sellers using Evri

I am sure there will be many like me who are bemused how Evri are still in business.  I have had delivery after delivery fail or arrive late and nothing gets done because sellers keep using them.

I just did a Trust pilot search on Evri UK their one star rating from from 830 reviews is 97% one star, thats not a typo 97% one star.  Everi.co.uk have 3069 reviews on there which are slightly better only 96% one star reviews.  To put this into actual numbers of the 830 reviews  805 were 1 star and of the 3069 reviews 2,946 were 1 star.

So of the 3874 total reviews 3751 were 1 star .  Obviously e-Bay say they can't do anything about it 'as it does not affect their revenue', so the buyers are the only ones who can do anything, by not purchasing items from sellers who ship with Evri.  Sadly that will be part of my check from now on, ship with Evri I will buy elsewhere.

a few days slower ..☺️

In N Salop delivery times by RM are random for parcels (they have a concept
of safe place meaning we'll leave it near the gate on a country lane, 50m
from the house) and take a photo.

Letter post is 2-3 weeks or never - when politicians talk about USO and
delivery days they are on a different planet to N Salop.

The Czech billionaire has now bought the holding company - IDS - will we
get a better service in Rural UK
- I doubt it.

Re: Stopping sellers using Evri

I agree with what you have stated, but a lot of eBayers on this forum seem to think the sun shines out the back side of ebay and all ways defend them?, but what they don't realise is that both Evri and eBay are corporations.

So both will cover for each other, this is called corporate privilege same as doctor patent confidentiality.

And another thing I found out that you are paying ebay for Evri delivery not Evri, this raises the question who do you clam off of? also their policy is that you can only make a claim for lost or damaged items from sender? buy you have payed for the service? the sender is just a third party, this muddies the water to the point you cant see what's going on?

The buyer is only paying eBay for Evri delivery if the seller is using eBay's new 'Simple delivery' service (except in the clothing category where the payment currently goes to Packlink).  If the seller isn't using 'Simple delivery' then the buyer is paying the seller who then either purchases direct from Evri or via a broker (Packlink if purchasing the carriage on eBay).

In all instances the buyer's claim is always with eBay.

If the seller isn't using the 'Simple delivery' service they then need to claim from Evri or from the broker if they didn't purchase direct from Evri.

If the seller is using 'Simple delivery' then they are fully protected by eBay against loss or damage during transit, once the carrier has scanned the item into the system, so, in theory, there should be no need for the seller to make any claim.

Re: Stopping sellers using Evri

Restricting choice is lose-lose, for buyers and sellers. Yes, there needs to be choice, but not restricted choice. Over the course of 18 months, the Royal Mail person that delivers parcels in my area, has stolen c. 150 GBP-worth of goods from me. It took a long time for me to figure out what he was doing. He pretends the parcel has sustained transit damage, removes & retains the contents, then delivers the empty packaging in a Royal Mail "apology" bag. He's had clothing (one parcel, he took the Under Armour top and delivered the three remaining "no-name" garments, along with the butchered packaging, in a "I'm not sorry, thanks for all the presents" bag); perfume (thanks to the sticker they insist on, he knew before destroying the packaging what was inside - in 18 months I had zero successful perfume deliveries); CDs; DVDs; Rick & Morty things for my nephew - the list is long. It never used to be this bad - it is obviously someone new, who passed a criminal records check - many thieves are never caught, ergo, they do not have a record to check. For the last five months, I have chosen to buy only from sellers that do not use Royal Mail - I have since suffered no thefts - receiving only pristine, unmolested parcels, intact & complete in their contents, via Evri, Yodel, or DPD. Area-to-area, there are good & bad - allowing buyers to choose, so that they can circumnavigate local bad-actors & their shenanigans is only good business sense. If I really want something where it says RM on the listing, I will message the seller, to ask if they might be happy to send via Evri (the best, most reliable service in my area - Simon earned himself a 20 GBP tip in his Christmas card, for his efficient & trustworthy service), or, via another courier. Many sellers, I have found to not only be sympathetic & understanding, but amenable, too. It is not the choice that needs restricting - eBay needs to expand their filters to allow us to select, or de-select a particular courier. If all eBay sellers only used Royal Mail, I would have no use for my eBay account.

That is a very serious allegation.  How do you know that he has stolen the items and have you reported him?  Where is he getting the Royal Mail apology bags from?  Damaged items are normally put in those bags at the sorting office not by the person delivering them.

You have clearly been very unlucky.  I have rarely had any problems with Royal Mail, or Evri for that matter.

Re: Stopping sellers using Evri

I definately agree with sellers being able to select or de-select who they use, personally as a seller I never use RM although would do if I was asked.  From my experience unless it's changed there was never any way of tracking and the only parcels I ever had go astray was with RM

Re: Stopping sellers using Evri

Well as the OP of this thread the remarks have made fascinating reading, it certainly appears your level of service from any courier depends on your local staff.

For me Evri are still as bad as ever, of my last 4 Evri deliveries (purchases where I did not know) one arrived as it should and Evri blamed the sender each time for the parcels not arriving on time.  My RM services are still faultless, I think the compromise is sellers should be free to use whatever courier they wish, but should be able to notify buyers of who they use prior to the seller making a purchase.  We should also remember companies with a bad reputation rebrand for a reason, just as Hermes did to Evri, but changing the name alone does not improve service.

Re: Stopping sellers using Evri

Our regular Evri delivery man is brilliant - I think the biggest problem with Evri is between the seller dispatching the item and that item getting to the delivery man...i've been waiting since Saturday for an order to get from Evri's HQ to get put out for actual delivery, still waiting...what on earth do they do with our stuff in the meantime?

Re: Stopping sellers using Evri

Sent about 250 parcels with Evri. They delivered every single one.

The only issue I've had is the occasional £4 "fine" for underpaying. But you simply login to PayPal and click "cancel invoice" !

Re: Stopping sellers using Evri

I agree my man is great as well.. my son is an Evri delivery driver and a lot of the delays are down to the vans delivering the parcels to the depot, sometimes the drivers can be waiting a couple of hours for them to turn up then they have to scan them all onto their vans before being able to go out and on occasions the vans don't even turn up..add this side of it to the fact all this element of it is unpaid

Re: Stopping sellers using Evri

not disputing your figures but I find more people want to complain than give a review when it's positive, personally I have never had a problem with Evri and use them more often than not but if a buyer requests a different courier I am happy to oblige

Spot on.

People generally don't make a song and dance about something when it works as it should. (unless, of course, they've been paid to!)

Which is why sites like Crust Pilot tend to be pretty negative places.

I have lived in three locations in London. I have always had problems with "Hermes and now Evri." In my opinion Evri should be banned.

I live in deepest, darkest Dorset.

Our Evri driver is brilliant,as is our RM person.

Just because it doesn't work for you doesn't mean it doesn't work for anyone else

Re: Stopping sellers using Evri

I despise  Evri. My entire street does too. But, in the end I blame Ebay. They do not allow any negative feedback about delivery for the seller. They delete such content or allow it to be deleted. The buyers never know how bad Evri actually is,.. because it can not be reported. I have tried,..to no avail.

Re: Stopping sellers using Evri

As the instigator of this topic I feel I should say that I now have a decent Evri driver that delivers to me.

I did have to point out that it’s safer to put a parcel in my recycling shed than leave it on the doorstep but since doing so he puts everything in the shed.
That said, just because at the moment I have a decent delivery person doesn’t change the fact that Evri are a shambles.
The measure of a company is what they do when things go wrong.
To all those that report having no problems, long may your luck continue. If you ever have a missing parcel and have to contact customer support 🤣 good luck with that!

Re: Stopping sellers using Evri

you could maybe ask the seller if they will use an alternative to Evri before purchasing, personally I've to date never had a problem with them but if I was asked not to use them I wouldn't

Re: Stopping sellers using Evri

Got an Evri delivery yesterday (not our usual delivery man)...left it by our gates 100 yards from the front door, right next to the road..amazed it wasn't pinched...there's good & (very) bad in every company unfortunately.

Re: Stopping sellers using Evri

Firstly you can message buyers and ask if they can use another carrier as EVRI is not reliable in your area.

Secondly i use EVRI but through a third party logistics company and with full insurance, i have not had need of the insurance at all but all parcels are insured at a low low cost and since doing this i have had a much better result with EVRI i think this is because EVRI are not very interested in the non bulk sellers as they probably consider them an inconvenience but are more interested in larger groups and with this some clout is added if things are not running smoothly. As a seller on Ebay for some time i struggled with using Evri, now it is my preferred method but only through the third party as they seem to be able to resolve any issues with EVRI very efficiently and i was told by them that they have more clout, i was unable to contact anyone at EVRI and still cannot do so direcrtly bit it seems they can. Seems if you are big in this world of Ecommerce they take notice of you if you are small fish you do not exist. Welcome to the age of faceless computerisation. I for one do agree with this but i can understand it and at least i have my orders getting delivered.
