Should I request a Return?

Hi.

I recently bought a Microsoft 21Y-00008 keyboard off here.

the listing says its a QWERTY International English. but upon receiving its a slightly different layout to the one in the picture in the description. also the instructions appear to be in Dutch.

I suppose I could get used to a few characters being in different places and I could get the English instructions online. then again its the principle, and the non-English versions do sell cheaper than the one I thought I was buying for £50

what do others think? should I request a return?

Thanks

Should I request a Return?

Well,  I speed type,  and there's no way I'd be able to type this fast,  if the letters were not in a QWERTY format.  🤔

Totally up to you if you can cope with this and wish to keep the item,  but you have received an item not as described,  so you are entitled to a full refund.

If you are still within 30 days of the item's last estimated date for delivery you are guaranteed a full refund,  under eBay's 30 day MBG,  Money Back Guarantee policy.

Just proceed this way:

You have received an item not as described,  go right of the item in your Purchase History and from More Actions select... Return this item selecting the reason Item Does Not Match Description or Photos.

The seller needs to accept this case within 3 days and refund,  if they want their item back first , they need to pay for that fully tracked return postage, then on receipt of their item they have 48 hours to refund you.  If they don't ,  need to escalate the case,  ask eBay to step in, and they'll force the refund.

Never listen to any excuse or promise from the seller to close the case early,  and do not forget to escalate.

Follow the step-to-step guide provided by @tressygirl and you should be fine.

If you are outside the 30 day period allowed by eBay then use a chargeback with your payment provider.

Most importantly, and as already advised, do not manually close the case for any reason... the case will take care of itself in due course.

And definitely do not answer or listen to anything the seller has to say as he appears to be somewhat less than helpful in resolving issues - looking at his feedback he already has a dissatisfied customer for a problematic keyboard sale.

Should I request a Return?

In all honesty @_localhost_  I'm surprised you even need to ask.

If the listing stated the keyboard had an International English layout then that is what you should receive. If you then received a keyboard which was different to the one shown in the listing then the item is Not As Described, and that doesn't even take into account instructions written in Dutch.

You paid £50 for a keyboard with an International English QWERTY layout. If that's not what you received then yes, you should request a return. Follow the advice given by @tressygirl

It IS actually a QWERTY keyboard. however some of the important character keys are in different places.

Just thought you might like to know those instructions are in Finnish not, as you thought, Dutch.

Olet tervetullut ...  : )
