How do I get rid of this supremely annoying thing? It's only been there a morning and I'm already sick of having to fetch my mobile phone to get the code. I am not surgically and unhealthily attached to my phone, it is not with me constantly and except for when it rings or buzzes with a text I never look at it. I don't want to have to find it to put in a random code to access my ebay account when I've already put in a password which was working perfectly well on it's own. Why can't people leave things alone? Anyway, how do I turn it off or better still remove it?

It's not just the unecessary use of verification, when a user is already logged in but wants another page for example, it's the automatic voice set up. " Forty two thousand and two" is SO much harder to hear and retain than " four zero zero two" - common usage by more user friendly systems. Ebay seems to have an overall policy of making things as awkward and counter intuitive as possible.

Hi, tried this and it worked for a week, then reverted to 2-step verification. Reset and disabled this again, worked for a few hours then erv erted, reset AGAIN then this morning it has AGAIN imemdiately reverted to 2step. This is a sever pain. Every time I use ebay (several times a day) and despite selecting "remain logged in" this KEEPS making me re-log in with 2-step verification. This is AWFUL and AGAINST both their own option selection sofware AND my EXPRESS WISHES. EBAY - SORT THIS OUT I DO NOT WANT 2-STEP VERIFICATION EVERY TIME I LOG-IN,. This is making ebay unusable

I no longer have a mobile phone, so I entered my landline number. Guess what I am now completely locked out of my eBay account and there is no way to contact them without logging in!

I use a very quick work around hack for this problem.....being a seller myself, I am loathe to remove the 2 step verification process, especially when you remember the reason why it was introduced in the first place,... do people remember the way hackers and scammers had been able to steal hundreds of thousands of pounds and took over accounts completely a couple of years ago? I do, and i remember the chill i felt when people couldnt get into their accounts and their accounts were emptied, and ebay/paypal were passing he uck to each other....being a small business with only one account, I couldnt help wondering what I would have felt if it had been me locked out of my account, with my money being stolen right in front of my eyes, and being unable to do anything to stop it, thinking about not being able tomake my mortgage payment or bills, etc would bring me out in a cold sweat. I welcomed the 2 step verification process, but yes, you are right, tis a bit of a pain when you are being asked to enter passcodes several times a day, as lek you, i am not attached to my phone 24/7...so my work around was to connect my phone to my pc, via phone link. Now every time i have to enter the passcode, it gets sent directly to my desktop,, via apop up message, and it sticks around for a few seconds, long enough for me to repeat and enter into the code boxes, its not such a pain anymore......and i feel safe, which is the main thing for me. This also works for other sites where you may have to enters codes, ie for services or purchases. If you miss the code first time, it can still be seen as a full message under the notifications on your pc (near calendar)...honestly,, ist worth it just to keep your finances and account safe.

You absolute beauty, this worked a treat.
All this 2FA BS on so many sites with absolutely zero need for it (so long as people use strong passwords and not forgetting the security question elements) has become nothing more than a total nightmare in the last few years. On some days I seem to spend more time waiting for & inputting 2FA codes than the actual amount of time spent doing what's needed on the sites in question.
Hopefully it's now disabled across all devices for eBay but if not I'll repeat on each device in the hope that this works for them all.
Of course anyone who fails to use strong passwords would be wise to use 2FA still, but if they don't because they simply can't be bothered treating security seriously I have no sympathy for them if or when they run into bother.

Try running a commercial account which is accessed by many people. None of which has a company mobile and even if they did which one would get the text when 4 different people require access.
2 factor authentication is a complete and utter nonsense!

lets say someone finds your phone, and uses it to sign in to eBay, the code gets sent to the missing phone anyway so i dont see what use this is. All this is for is to track your location, via a phone number, conditioning us mere mortals and to prepare us for a grander surveillance state. A password with uppercase lowercase symbols numbers etc was a joke first let alone this. You just are not that important ebay. I can understand if its a bank safe full of gold but its just flipping ebay.
Two factor authentication SHOULD BE OPTIONAL regardless of DEVICE, business or regular account
notice amazon still havent forced 2FA on its users though they are trying.
