Remove very annoying 2 step verification process

How do I get rid of this supremely annoying thing? It's only been there a morning and I'm already sick of having to fetch my mobile phone to get the code. I am not surgically and unhealthily attached to my phone, it is not with me constantly and except for when it rings or buzzes with a text I never look at it. I don't want to have to find it to put in a random code  to access my ebay account when I've already put in a password which was working perfectly well on it's own. Why can't people leave things alone? Anyway, how do I turn it off or better still remove it?

Re: Remove very annoying 2 step verification process

OH YES IT DOES - panto season, lol.

Seriously, it does work, but not on the app. Is that what you're using?

It was a pain to sign up for it, then sign out again, involving lots of text codes and emails, but once it got through all that it works fine (touch wood).

I must admit I haven't tried doing the same on the app, but, changing it on the website, most definitely doesn't work on my mobile.

Good luck.

As for people saying about 2 step verification on banks etc, yes, they do, but I tend not to log into my bank once a day, certainly not several times a day like a do with ebay for my sales.

Not to mention going into my other Ebay accounts too. It's beyond irritating.

Re: Remove very annoying 2 step verification process

If you're setting up a new account, then I'm assuming you either have a replacement phone for the lost/stolen one or you're doing it on your laptop.

Either way you can get ebay to help you access your original account.

Verification on the app offers a text OR email confirmation, so you can use that method instead.

If all else fails contact the help desk through live chat and they'll sort you out. (Without logging in) You definitely don't need to start again and rebuild your feedback.

You wouldn't be able to set up a new account on your old email address anyway.

No phone signal, but internet access?

No. Don't even bother explaining that to me, it's why I married my Husband, lol

Re: Remove very annoying 2 step verification process

Internet connected via cable (optical or copper wire). Phone signal comes froma phone mast and there isn't one in a lot of rural areas.
What is more weird is I have WiFi calling on my phone, so I can make and receive calls via the internet, but I can't send or recieve text messages!

Re: Remove very annoying 2 step verification process

Two-step verification is now a requirement set by the financial authorities to reduce fraud.  This is causing the banks a great deal of misery as they are bearing the brunt because they can't stop hackers getting at your personal details.  That's why your password isn't enough to prevent fraud.

But the customer has to suffer the extra level of security.  A real PIA if you can't receive texts or haven't always got access to a mobile phone.  An e-mail option should be available.

P.I.A. indeed. Especially when the only time I get an offer to email a
verification code is when I'm using the app on my mobile.

Re: Remove very annoying 2 step verification process

2 Step verification - recently has inserted itself between "already logged in" at the beginning and 'related matters'. Here we have no mobile signal at all, so can't receive the 'verification code' on a mobile and the garbled Ebay voicemail  code "three hundred and 6 thousand, four hundred and 2" is so quick and final it could be in a foriegn language - the french version of 4,876 is "quatre milles, huit, soixante seize" and equally impossible to assimilate readily. Who are we trying to protect here - the customer is already securely logged in!
