How do I get rid of this supremely annoying thing? It's only been there a morning and I'm already sick of having to fetch my mobile phone to get the code. I am not surgically and unhealthily attached to my phone, it is not with me constantly and except for when it rings or buzzes with a text I never look at it. I don't want to have to find it to put in a random code to access my ebay account when I've already put in a password which was working perfectly well on it's own. Why can't people leave things alone? Anyway, how do I turn it off or better still remove it?

This happened to me a little while ago, Saw a very good suitcase 240 volt generator early in the morning on eBay at a great price (£100 with free delivery) Good seller with good feedback... and decided to go for it immediately ! as it was a bargain at that price, sadly by time PayPal let me get through security to get to my funds after I clicked pay with bank account I got directed back to eBay and a red banner at the top of the page said "Item not available" - When I clicked on the listing the item said "SOLD"... but NOT TO ME !! 😞 I logged into PayPal to see if any money had been taken from my bank account but there was no sign of anything and when I checked my bank account online it was still the same with no money taken... So it seems that this awful securtity 2 step verification MADE ME LOSE THE ITEM because it DELAYED THE PROCESS OF ME BEING ABLE TO GET TO MY MONEY AND PAY FOR THE ITEM ! 😞 😞 😞
It seems these sites like eBay and PayPal are run by inconfident and PARANOID people ! folowing EU protocol like lapdogs ! 🙄
I am wondering where all this is going to end ?... soon we will have to do a 2 step verification just to open the tap and get a glass of water ! - This is just ridiculous now. 😡

Doesn't work, the ' Turn off ' option is greyed out😑.
The Turn off option in 2 step verification is greyed out, why is this?
Ebay, I don't want or need 2 step verification every time i sign into my account, it's extremely annoying and inconvenient to have to get my phone just to check and submit a security code to log in!

Doesn't work, the ' Turn off ' option is permanently greyed out.
It seems Ebay INSISTS on two factor authentication to have an account.
I can't even change it to an email authentication, it's not an option, so without my phone I can't log in.
Why? I have no financial info on their site.
I don't have a fixed IP address, so every time it changes I have to go through their double process.
No phone, no access.😒

My solution is a more sophisticated. Delete your account!!
Two step verification doesn't stop buyers denying receiving your stuff.
It doesn't stop ebay believing everything buyers fabricate, to the sellers loss.

I don't think security for Members is the issue.
Knowledge of mobile phones used by customers is valuable information.
Strange that you can receive an email from ebay warning of a sale, and two minutes later being asked to verify yourself, on the equipment you receive the email on, before you can communicate with your buyer. Result, no communication.

Apparently it's only there if you want to register to sell on Ebay.So I am told.
If you are just a buyer then you can opt out.
Doesn't make much sense, there are dodgy buyers as well as sellers on the site!

Dodgy buyers indeed. One buyer managed to burn out the circuit board and blamed damage in transit.
I was basically blackmailed into refunding else it might affect my ratings, currently 100%.
