How do I get rid of this supremely annoying thing? It's only been there a morning and I'm already sick of having to fetch my mobile phone to get the code. I am not surgically and unhealthily attached to my phone, it is not with me constantly and except for when it rings or buzzes with a text I never look at it. I don't want to have to find it to put in a random code to access my ebay account when I've already put in a password which was working perfectly well on it's own. Why can't people leave things alone? Anyway, how do I turn it off or better still remove it?

Brilliant. I was so fed up with this security system, similar to another person, I too am not fully attached to my mobile phone. Great stuff, thanks.

Bliss! Thank you for that, literally every time I signed into ebay I had to find my phone for the code and of course it would be upstairs, in the car etc. Thanks again!!

Sadly, the fix didn't help. I later found out that the annoying system wasn't disabled. I have been informed by eBay that if you use eBay for selling, i.e. you have a selling account, then the 2-step verification cannot be disabled. So, I and others I must assume are stuck with this check every time we log-on to eBay. One other thing which annoys me is the fact that the system ask you if you trust your computer, how rich is that after you have gone through the 2-step verification to verify your log-in to eBay.🤔🤔

If I go to Sign in & security, 2 step verification, I do not get an option to turn the wretched thing off. All I get is different ways of doing it. I can understand 2FA when you first log in but having to do it every time to change a page is madening. What is wrong with this system? Was it designed by Microsoft? See attached screen shot.

I seem to remember that it was the banks that introduced the two-step verification routine because they were losing so much money to on-line fraud. eBay is not the only company which has been forced to adopt it.

I fully understand two step authentication, when you sign into a site. What really is having to do every time you change pages. Yesterday I must have done it 10 times in five minutes. I was trying to get information and I was going back and forward, all within eBay. Every time I changed page, I had to wait for a text message and enter the number. That is not necessary and just shows how badly this is implemented.

For me, the verification lasts for as long as I'm logged into eBay.

I did have this problem here on eBay and on PayPal for most of last year, Like you I was hugely annoyed and frustrated at having to constantly pass quick security checks everytime I wanted to log in or do something...
Then one day in October of 2023 I got a DIFFERENT computer with more momory and hardisk space, I re-downloaded Google chrome again, signed in to eBay and my PayPal account, I did the 2 step verification ONCE only and clicked on "remember this device" (or save device).
After this, I have been okay with no unwanted security checks (Only the odd one every 4-6 weeks) and that's it.
My conclusion was this was being caused by the very low memory and hardisk space on my other computer and eBay and PayPal were not able to save their cookies with their memory of my computer onto my machine - Thus, this then triggered a chain reaction of unwanted security checks.
Also make sure 3rd party cookies are enabled on Chrome as this has some affect too.
On seller hub when logged into eBay, if you click on anything to do with personal data like payments/payout details, eBay will still ask you to do a securty check by sending you a verification code to your mobile or email address as an added safety/security precaution.
Hope this helps.
