One thing I learned ( and taught!) in my long career in senior sales and marketing directorships and teaching posts is, 'If you change a format make sure it's an improvement on what you already have', simple but true.
I just can't believe that ebay has made so many changes all, it seems, for the worse that the ones they replaced. A couple of examples will suffice: Purchase History, Buyer Feedback and now trying to contact their so-called Help Desk which hardly merits the name as all one gets is a list of menus and ,an hour or so ago, I tried to send an email , which was closed ( although it was well within the hours it said it was open).
One of the reasons we buy from the same shops, go to the same garage and barber is familiarity : we get used to the routine and want to stick to it, but at least we can see the service we are getting. So it is even more important that 'distant-buying' (ebay, of course) gives us some reassurance that comes with routine and, for want of a better word, 'sameness'.
Just because ( if this is the case- and I supect it is!), a new marketeer arrives he or she does not have to bring with them a format from theis old company along with their leaving-presents!

Ebay dont make the site easy to use.
Ebay try to make the site make more money for ebay.
Quite often the method they use is wrong and has the opposite effect.

Just came back to this latest, God-Awful site layout - (after a blissful long, long layoff)
WHAT A MESS
Everything is just SO cluttered & looks like it's been designed by a FOUR YEAR OLD
It's like watching a Heavy Smoker trying to win a Gold Medal in the Lung Cancer Olympics
And succeeding, comfortably with some considerable ease !!
IS someone actually getting PAID to crock this site ?
OR, are ALL the E-Bay staff thesedays AMAZON infiltrators engaged on very successful sabotage
.

I have been with eBay for 17 years ... never had ONE complaint against me. It was easy ... I sent it and they paid me .. EASY PEASY ... but now you have to follow POLICIES no one tells you about ... as a seller ONLY the buyer is protected ... even when they pay for something they can then TAKE the money BACK at any time... I've just lost £125 because of the changes to policies that no one EVER EXPLAINED !!

AND they decide the outcome of cases without speaking to BOTH SIDES !! How can they do that ??? She says if we don't hear from you we presume you are happy.. "yes I was happy until you took £125 out of my account for straighteners I sent in good faith" they decided without speaking to me that she was in the right ... how is that at all possible???

This site is now totally rubbish this team needs sacking and there needs to be someone from the old school to show you how its done. You must be losing a fortune.

They want you to download the app that's why. There's no longer a mobile format just desktop format to make it as difficult as possible to use on a phone. I hate that cynicism and manipulation so I'm not using eBay much at all now. I don't miss it as to be honest there are other ways to buy on websites which respect the customers who want to use them.

well and truely...............
Like many others, I have migrated to Vint*d for selling personal clothing and accessories and have no issues with the platform at all - it's 100% free for sellers 😊. I use eBay to list a few personal bits on the 80% promo offer, and although selling clothing is now totally free for private sellers, any clothing sales I had ( a max of 8 per month) stopped for me as soon as this new eBay intervention began - so another fine manipulative mess is fully active........
There is also the delight of google shopping which saves me a fortune on items that I would have otherwise purchased on eBay, if I had been able to find them within the now fully diabolical eBay search facility to begin with..........😲😵😠

Have to agree here...they've recently put my payments on hold, forcing me to update my account and provide ID in a very rude, abrupt way.
...but they ended the message with "thanks for being part of the ebay community!" 🙄

Totally agree, it's just appalling now for selling. As you say why change what works.. Trying to be like Vinted and it dosen't work. Utterly frustrating..I've no idea how it works now. Someone likes my item says will close in 29 days? Do I contact the buyer or does she contact me? Do they bid or do I make a suggestion? Utterly confused.

Make an offer to buyers — EBay’s advice - put in a price and add a message .. I do as instructed - and all it keeps saying is Invalid Price ..EBAY IS THE MOST FRUSTRATING USELESS WEBSITE - it is about time some of the directors resigned. Presumably they earn so much they never have to use their xxxxx awful site if they did they would employ some people with a logical brain!

Agree
changes should be for the better . Definitely not the current case . So difficult to find anything !! To buy!!?
Why make ridiculous changes that are so UNHELPFUL. obviously the usual case of employee justifying his exorbitant salary to mess up a perfectly workable system.
I have not bought anything since these recent changes.
so retrograde.

So called new Ebay, it is awful, the 'Buyer Protection' is a fee, why cant they say its a fee. Its one big con after another with Ebay. It use to be a good selling platform, a pleasure to deal with but not anymore.

I think they do say it's a fee.
That is why Ebay have called it the Buyer Protection FEE from the first time it was mentioned in the email sent to all sellers early in January this year.
