The chances are the 5yrs warranty offered was a Dyson offer and not the eBay seller as such a long warranty is very risky for a normal business seller.

Most warranties of this kind which extend the normal 12 months come with various conditions and these normally include you as the buyer registering your product with the manufacturer.

If you don't register in most cases you will not be covered.

Other conditions normally are the customer pays for the return to the manufacturer.

You need to dig out all the paperwork you have that confirms the 5yrs warranty and it's terms and conditions..

Warrenties on here are only as good as your ability to enforce them, so if the seller won`t help and they are a U.K based business, then perhaps seek advice from C.A.B or trading standards. After one year, either Ebay or paypal are unable to help i`m afraid. You`ve got nothing to lose, but perhaps try contactiing Dyson directly and see what they say, nothing ventured ........
