Scammed transaction went into a hacked account

Yesterday I purchased an item and was informed by eBay that due to concerns the item was removed from the site. I contacted an employee through live chat and was told that the amount paid would be refunded in full. I paid with my debit card and when I checked my online banking the transaction was no longer pending and had entered the paypal linked with the sellers hacked account. Seeing as the money is no longer pending I am unsure as to whether there is anything eBay can do to refund me my money?

I think that as usual you were misinformed. I doubt very much that you will get a refund unless you deal with it yourself. If the item is not showing in your purchases, you will need to open a Paypal Not Received Case and Escalate after 2 days but by day day 20 to get a refund. If showing in your purchases open an Ebay Not Received Case to get a refund.

I did not pay using Paypal I used my banks debit card. I've never made a Paypal account before, is your answer still applicable? The item is in my purchase history expected to be delievered on the 1st December, but I have tried to cancel the order and get a refund as I believe the item is fraudulent.
