I am trying to buy a pair of speakers from a seller in Latvia. He is claiming that he cannot
purchase insurance on the item and that I will only be reimburssed if the speakers never arrive (via USPS).
In the case of damage during shipment I would simply loose my money. I wanted to call Ebay
to see what the policy actually is but there is nobody to call.
Does anybody know what would happen to my money ($340) if the speakers never arrive or are destroyed
during shipping.
NOTE: seller had this item (pair of speakers) double listed (same serial numbers) and claimed it was an
accident. I reported the duplicate listing but nothing was done.
NOTE: seller had a $55 shipping fee listed for America and then prior to check out (I selected BUT IT NOW)
he changed the shipping charge to $95. I told him that was too much and he changed it again to $75 for shipping.
NOTE: seller asked for my private email with no explanation why. I told him that this was a voilation of terms
and he sent back a smile imogi.

this is the UK ebay
I suggest you ask your question on the US ebay,
the answers may be different
I personally would not proceed with the purchase..you will end up losing your money if there is no insurance cover against damage in transit..also the fact that the carriage cost has been increased by the seller..steer well clear..sounds like a dodgy seller to me
Depends on what Money Back Guarantee you have in the US. In the UK we would expect a full refund but buyer would be likely to have to pay return postage.
It is not unusual to find that couriers would not pay out on claims for damage, but that should be the seller's problem, not the buyers. Buyer would be covered by the terms of any Money Back Guarantee in force in the Country of the buyer.
I agree with one of the other answers, I wouldn't trust this seller, and would not risk buying from him.
