Hi all,
I bought a microphone from someone on ebay a couple of years ago, unfortunately it turns out to have been a counterfeit (didn't use it/test it at the time due to moving house and all sorts of upheavel).
Only just found out and ebay are saying they won't push through any refund as it's been so long.
I looked at the feedback of the seller and since my purchase they have had multiple negative feedbacks for selling fake microphones.
Got an engineer to certify that it's a fake too.
Ebay said to forget trying to get a refund through them and contact the police if I want.
Anyone got any advice on anything I can do or do I need to just accept this one?
Hate being ripped off!
To be honest you should have inspected the item at the time you received it. It wouldn't have taken too long to have opened the parcel and inspected the item at the time of receipt, and if you'd noticed something amiss at that point then you would have had a far stronger chance of getting a total refund via eBay if the case was opened within thirty days of receipt, or via PayPal if you'd run out of time with eBay but were still within PayPal's one hundred and eighty day time limit.
As things stand now you've run out of time to open a case with either eBay or PayPal, so the seller's successfully screwed you out of your money for a fake item and is probably well aware that you're unlikely to ever get it back. Even attempting to do a chargeback on your card at this point doesn't offer any guarantee of yielding a positive outcome given the length of time that has passed since the purchase. However, given that you've run out of time to open an eBay or PayPal case you could try going down that route and seeing whether or not they can help you to get your money back. You've certainly got nothing to lose by trying it, except for some of your time that could have been better spent on other things, but whether or not you decide to give it a shot really depends on how determined you are to try to find a way, however slim, of possibly being able to get your money back.
2 years..you can forget about getting a refund..
