I bought an item around 9.00pm Thursday night; I paid extra for 24hr courier at the time but thought I might be lucky and get it late Friday night but should be delivered sometime on the Saturday morning. I messaged the seller at lunch time Saturday asking for a tracking number as the 24hr courier appears not to be a 24hr courier; well it’s now 8.00pm Saturday night and I’m still waiting for the courier and a reply from the seller. I have a feeling this purchase won’t appear till sometime next week. The question is can I expect the extra money I paid for 24hr service, since I didn’t get it? We are only talking 250 miles between seller and buyer, not some massive distance.
ideally, it would have been a good idea to message the seller first and ask if it would have been posted the following day, if you paid for 24hr delivery, then you could have taken it from there. It`s a common mis-conception that 24hr or 48hr delivery means you buy on friday to get it saturday, but as explained, it doesn`t work like that, because whilst you pay for 24hr delivery, if the seller takes 2-3 days to post it, then the 24hr delivery only starts to count down once the courier actually receives it at the sorting depot.
`Nope it stated’ Estimated delivery Fri, 11 Sep.’
one key word there 🙂
it's 24 hours from the time the seller posts it,
not 24 hours from the time you purchased!
no one will have been working at the time you purchased
the distance between you and the seller is irrelevant
what was the estimated delivery date?
If you bought at 9pm on a Thursday your seller would only be able to dispatch on the Friday hence the item would be delivered on the following Monday.
You don't say what the sellers dispatch time is. Unless you clarify, 24 hour delivery is from when dispatched.
If they don't dispatch for 3 days then you will not get it until day 4. It also depends on whether they deal in "Working Days". Has it been marked as dispatched?
Buying late on a Thursday evening and expecting deliver on the Friday is expecting too much.
Not many couriers deliver on weekends. You should have read the "delivery within 1 working day" and the sellers dispatch times.
Ebay would have given you an ESTIMATED delivery time which i'm guessing was this following Monday at the latest.
Nope it stated’ Estimated delivery Fri, 11 Sep.’ Fact is I might as well have saved my money and then just waited for the free mail delivery which would have arrived Monday or Tuesday anyway.
The seller should have realised that it was pointless for me to spend extra money on something I was never going to get, if they weren’t prepared to post it on the Friday morning.
As far as I’m concerned they should have posted it on the Friday morning and that way it would have arrived sometime on the Saturday. This seller can forget any glowing revue that’s for sure, certainly no Christmas card.
By the way there are plenty of couriers that deliver on weekends, I get them all the time, the seller couldn't even be bothererd to give tracking details, that's poor as far as I'm concerned.
