Top Rated Seller Discount

Hi everyone, I might be being dense but does the top-rated fee seller discount not apply when we do auctions?

I never usually check this but I've had 1 listing sell for £13 as a buy it now and 1 sell for £13 as an auction so the fee difference stood out to me when I was recording my figures. They are basically the same listing template for dispatch time, postage etc so it isn't that one wouldn't meet the criteria on that, just that it is an auction:

Re: Top Rated Seller Discount

Looking in your sold items the Elizabeth II coins weren't showing the Premium Service badge but the George VI coins were (you only receive the discount if the listing shows the badge). However, according to eBay auction-style listings are eligible for Premium Service discounts.

I can't see why the auction didn't attract the badge/discount. The total was under £20.00 so the requirement to upload tracking within your handling time didn't apply and the delivery options & prices were identical. The one thing that might be worth checking is the EDD eBay chose to show both buyers in the sales records - are the estimates wildly different?

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

Re: Top Rated Seller Discount

I went back and realised none of the auctions get the badge / fee discount across my previous solds.

I rang eBay and the guy said the discount is only for buy it now and not auctions. He seemed sure about that without checking, went away to be sure and confirmed it.

I also noticed on the coins that the under £10 sales have a 10p fixed fee and the over £10 sales are 30p (plus VAT).

It is only pennies on these sort of listings but i'm intending to shift some more valuable items soon so I'll bear it it in mind when choosing BIN vs auction and I may start charging postage on auctions too as there is no incentive to make it free.

* edit I just read the link and it does suggest auctions would be eligible. I'm confused by it, whatever is going on it's not working on mine.

The EDD's are identical (Weds-Thurs).

Re: Top Rated Seller Discount

I didn’t get the discount on any auctions, nothing changed so I took the eBay customer representative’s advice on face value.

I haven’t sold for a while but I do have 1 auction running currently. If it sells I’ll confirm whether a TRS fee discount was applied (although as it stands the listing is gathering dust with 4 views I’m not holding my breath that a bid will arrive).

Re: Top Rated Seller Discount

I'm also not getting the top-seller discount on items, even though the badge is on the listing.

See below.

On a side note my transactional fees are a mess. I'm supposed to be getting 10p fixed fees (collectable category under £10) too (separate thread in forum, IT said it was fixed, ongoing problem). Everything seems to be a bit of a mess at the minute.

Re: Top Rated Seller Discount

UPDATE: Enquired with eBay support yesterday as to why I'm not getting the Top Seller discount on my fees, and they told me it was because I haven't had my shop subscription for the full month, and will only kick in on March 1st. Seems like the wrong answer, since it's not tied to shop subscription at all, but there you go. Lots of features being gatekeeped from me (including the postage discount on ebay supplies) until next month - it is not advertised like that at all on the subscriptions, pricing or features pages, even in small print.

Re: Top Rated Seller Discount

Just for anyone else who finds this at a later date, I did eventually get the top rated seller discount, but it took until the 1st of the following month after signing up/qualifying. I would also add, I'm also being plagued with other final value fee bugs and issues unrelated to this, hopefully that isn't the norm for everyone switching from private to business, new shop subscriptons, or new qualifiers - because it's been an absolute slug for me here dealing with support!
