Support have told me I have to manually end and relist 1000+ listings to get rid of new buyer fees?

I recently upgraded to a business account, with a shop subscription, as I have 1000+ listings and don't want to be impacted by the new buyer fees.

Having switched over, these fees are still showing on my existing listings, and are only removed on new or re-listed items. eBay support have just told me I have to MANUALLY end and RELIST all 1000+ listings to get the buyer fees to not show. I will LOSE all my 'sold X times' data that gets shown to buyers on the listings, and watchers, so not only is it a massive time sink it also seems pretty detrimental to my listings/shop.

Q: Is this really the only solution?

NB: They are all 'buy it now' listings, 'listed until sold', with the 'stay active when sold out' setting on.

UPDATE: I just did a trial, ended and re-listed an item, and a buyer bought it - and it STILL had buyer fees added. What's going on?

Considering this a separate issue even though it may be the root of the problem and continuing it here:
