People may not know this, if your item sold and listed with the simple delivery option. You can not make any changes to the Postal service or change the time from 48 to 24 or even try to see the buyers address. Not possible!
The only way is to Cancel the listing and select Custom postage from the Ebay App. ( not using a pc). Also ebay will not refund the simple delivery label cost if the seller chooses not to use it if a listing is not cancelled and the seller some how uses their own postage label without cancelling the sale. (Ebay have become very unfair platform now)

Welcome to Ebay Scam of the year. SD not so SD after all

Hi,
i have become a 'victim' of SD, because i use to use RM large letter and postage was often much fairer to customers with items folded and under 100g, 250g, 500g being £1.55, £2.10, £2.40 etc and as i have a P2G account my Evri with insurance worked out 6p cheaper than what eBay was charging the customer.
I think its fair to say eBay are making money on this because they are doing what P2G do, buy labels in bulk to offer a discount but not passing that on.
The reason i say "victim" is because this week i found my listings using laptop would no longer let me change the postage format to basic or advanced settings or how it use to be.
I even called eBay and the agent said if i list below £10 etc then i would get to choose postage but that does not seem to be the case. Maybe letter size but not for large letter!
I feel let down becasue i have over £100 credit on P2G and need to use that money to pay for postage items but everytime i try its always SD and no option.
The updates to eBay have also meant my eBay app will no longer work on my Android 11 phone.
Moving forward have you tried and tested the listing to "Free postage" & not used the label eBay send and used your own (as you normally would) and got the refund for postage from eBay, because some posts on here say you dont get that money back if you dont use the label.
Thank you 🌻

I am a private seller and buyer and this is where eBay brought me to look at issues with SD, so i have been reading the threads on here about SD.

yes its lost its charm, too many taccy china imports, too many cheap same same stuff and all the intresting stuff is lost. It use to have an excitment to it but now its trying to be amazon and Vinted
i have been looking at finding another site to sell 2nd hand items where i post and dont have all this extra cost to a buyer or seller.

I have been advised on numerous occasions now that you will only be refunded for unused SD if you complete the online request.
Also, from what I can see, there is no way to get the postage details without selecting the SD option. So you have to generate the QR code in order to get the address. Please tell if I'm wrong and how I can address this.
Agree with what many on here have said. SD is a joke and eBay are doing nothing to fix it because they have made a nice fat deal with Royal Mail. I used to like using eBay. Now I'm trying to set up my own online store. Much cheaper option in the long run.

@the-dustbucket-tradingco wrote:To reiterate if i now list items with free postage and do not use the eBay prepaid label and continue to do what i do, eBay will refund me that postage when not using the prepaid label they send?🌻🤗
If you offer free postage ('Seller pays postage') and don't use the Simple Delivery label provided then you will need to manually request a refund, within 14 days, using the link below:
'If you don't use the Simple Delivery label provided, you or your buyer will be refunded, depending on who paid for postage.

I am on here due to the stress it has caused me, as i private seller since 2005.
Its peopel like me who really have been through the mill offering good advice to eBay over the years to inprove the platform.
Sadly its full of cheap badly made items from China and sellers who dont care about negative feedback.
eBay is more than an seller platform it is a community of buyer sellers who use to love the bidding.
Just this week a buyer who didnt buy but wanted some info sent a long message about her personal life etc and often i have buyers or just viewers who reach out to communicate.
I wasnt surprised eBay tried to be Vinted but to take away my choice is really annoying.
In fact SD has been forced on me this week and the buyer will pay 6p more for Evri, yet i can buy the label myself for a price lower than eBay charge the customer!!!
The label is free from the shop.
The item is protected.
So are eBay offering the customer anymore than me, no!
I do have an attic and a few rooms full due to hoarding syndrome.
I can easyily wrap items for a large letter costing the buyer £1.55, £2.10, £2.40
due to the years i have built up my skill, collected my boxes and know the Post Office and have the nac of size, weight and courier.
I agree with what you say and support your words.
I have an account with P2G and in order to save a little money prepaid my account that now stands at £124.
Now eBay have really become a p. i. t. a.
From reading these replies (eBay brought me onto this forum page, yes i am private seller) i wanted to try to still buy my own label.
The replies do suggest,
1) if i put new listing on eBay i can put 'free postage' AND not use the label and pay for one myself and after 30 days the unused label will be void and eBay will refund me due to not using the label.
Do you know this?? I am not sure yet
2) the listings already on eBay will stay the same and the postage i can choose (is that right?)
good luck

Hi Kat just read this on the eBay terms and conditions with SD
quote"
If you don't use the Simple Delivery label provided, you or your buyer will be refunded, depending on who paid for postage.
So not automatically refunded.
I wonder if they keep changing everything as this feeds is a mish mash of correct and not so correct information 🌻

Yes, but how do you get the buyers address without accessing the Sd QR code. There's no way to do it from what I've seen.

Hi kat@ebay,
I've been a private seller on eBay for over 20 years so have seen many changes on the platform during that time.
Having read page after page of the comments (none complimentary or supportive) regarding the recent introduction of Simple Delivery, I really don't see how anyone at all benefits from it;
Sellers don't. Just refer to the litany of complaints about how it's costing them. Not just in cash but also in a loss of creditability when purchases take so much longer to arrive. When goods take much longer to be delivered, payment to the seller is delayed too.
Buyers certainly don't. I've always sent my items by 24-hour tracked delivery by Royal Mail, Parcelforce or Parcelforce Global Priority but am now unable to do so as I've been forced into sending via whomever eBay determines is the cheapest option.
eBay doesn't. Presumably they've come to some agreement with Royal Mail and EVRI but, whatever financial benefits that brought have no doubt been blown away by the loss of goodwill of your loyal sellers and buyers.
I've always been fair in what I've charged buyers for delivery, adding a small amount for time consuming packing, packing materials and a two mile drive to the post office but now, after the introduction of Simple Delivery (or tbh cheapest, slowest, least reliable delivery), my items take three/four days to arrive rather than one. They're also less well packed and presented than than previously and everyone loses out.
It's a shame really as what used to be a reasonably simple and fair system of selling and posting has now, for reasons I fail to understand, been thrown into chaos and so, after 20 years selling on eBay, I'm now exploring other avenues where I can provide the service and speed of delivery most of my buyers expect and demand nowadays.

Have seen multiple comments that are supportive of it. Maybe your just reading the threads that completely dislike it. It has it's advantages, particularly to those who are new. The only people really complaining about this from what I have seen, are either sellers who should be using business accounts, or long term sellers that simply don't like change.
Whilst I appreciate that there are going to be some things that cause issues, these will get fixed given time.
I really don't understand why this is costing sellers any more? The customer is paying for it anyway, unless you choose to pay yourself.
Why is it that you think that customers want next day delivery? Given the rise of the likes of Temu & Shein, who are delivering from the other side of the world and most certainly not next day, this kind of breaks that thinking doesn't it? They tend to be more interested in the best price, rather than than next day delivery!
It is only really Amazon who promote this "customer has to have it yesterday" mentality.
I must be honest, this is first time that I have seen anyone complain that delivery isn't fast enough with them.....
After all, it's not like your making a living from it. So I really don't understand why it's such a big deal for anyone who is doing this to sell off their own personal goods.

Just to add to the comments made, it is the customer choosing the speed of delivery - the seller is protected
The seller can assist the speed of delivery by dispatching same day even though they have three days in which to dispatch.

I'm not on/haven't use SD, but can you download/print the postage label to PDF, and see it there?
