Returns and Reasons Why - Growing Trend

Is anyone else suffering with frequent return requests with the reason 'Changed My Mind' then nothing is sent back for refund. Is this an attempt at just trying to blag a refund, on the off chance that many sellers just refund on the back of seeing a tracking i.d. for the so called return.

Been selling on here for over 22yrs now and this seems to be an increasing situation.

Yes, I understand that once closed the issue closes in the sellers favour however I wonder how many folk have been caught out by this.

Returns and Reasons Why - Growing Trend

We get return requests all the time. Rarely and I do mean rarely do any items get returned. Ocassionally there will be an empty bag returned or some such stupidity hoping to get a refund but pictures taken and sent to eBay CS seems to resolve that.

I have spoken to some "buyers" who try and claim a refund in the hope I'll drop the return and pay up and invariably they want to keep the item and get their money back, which is a major no.

There have been several "buyers" who have admitted freely "that if they dont ask, they wont get" or "worth a shot" or "I read it online someone got a refund so I thought I would try it, nothing ventured".

So yeah.... it's increasing but the actual returns... a very very small fraction of percentage overall.  However a lot of people chance their arm at it and in todays financial situation... it'll get worse

I believe that you can put your eBay settings to make instant refunds for items below a certain amount.  The buyers may have encountered this before and be expecting a refund without return.

Or they may want to return the item in principle, but find the actual return process off-putting and decide it's not worth the hassle or the expense.

Or they may just change their mind.  I sometimes buy something that isn't suitable for me, but a family member asks to have it because it's just right for them, so I don't ever return it.
