New Payout Rules for Business Accounts

I have business account and Ebay in their infinite wisdom, have changed the way I'm paid out to 3 days after delivery has been confirmed. Apparently this is being rolled out to everyone via email. Anyone else experienced this?

Re: New Payout Rules for Business Accounts

Unfortunately I can't find it at the moment, but after a week of speaking to numerous ebay customer service staff all around the world, I was finally told today but a member of staff in the UK, that this was being rolled out to everyone.  Not sure who to believe 🤔

Re: New Payout Rules for Business Accounts

Frankly, not that I disbelieve you personally, but I am struggling to believe that Ebay is doing this.

Normally there is some kind of hint....

But I really don't get why you can't find it, it will be in your Ebay messages.  Just sort as from Ebay only.  So if it was only recently it will still be there and pretty near the top.

Re: New Payout Rules for Business Accounts

A lot of business sellers would jump ship if this was true. Could it be?

Performance holds: We hold your payouts if we identify unusual activity associated with your account, such as increased customer claims, a sudden change in your selling activity, late deliveries, or negative buyer feedback.

Wouldn't have anything to do with the 3 negs on your profile would it??

Re: New Payout Rules for Business Accounts

I'm pretty sure it will be down to your feedback. Dropping as low as 96% may well trigger some sort of action from eBay. Sadly, with the low volume of transactions on this account, it'll be a long time before that rectifies itself, even if you're perfect from now on.

The only thing I don't understand is why eBay would not just have told you the reason for the change. You may just have missed it in the "missing" message.

Re: New Payout Rules for Business Accounts

Hi @mutley2695 ,

Thank you for your post.

Just to confirm that no there isn't any change to the payout rules for business accounts. What they may have been referring to was the change for private sellers that was introduced earlier in the year. This does not apply to business sellers.

Business accounts that are having funds held for longer periods would be for performance reasons for that account only. We are not able to check individual accounts here but these holds are usually temporary.

Thank you,

Kat

Re: New Payout Rules for Business Accounts

Thanks Kat

But it would have been really helpful if someone from Ebay had told me that last week. I have spent the last week calling ebay between 5 & 10 times a day everyday and not one person has either been helpful or provided the correct information. The only person that was helpful said that it was a New Policy that was being implemented. So you can understand my frustration.

Re: New Payout Rules for Business Accounts

@mutley2695  US sellers have been dealing with this for a few months, including the confusing communication in emails/when contacting support that make it sound like this is a sitewide policy change that is being rolled out to all sellers.

Payment policy updates which went into effect in January in the US state that eBay can apply this hold until after delivery confirmation for some sellers which trip risk factors in some scenarios.

https://pages.ebay.com/payment/2.0/previous-terms/#:~:text=Unless%20subject%20to%20a%20hold

"In some cases (for example, if you are a new seller on eBay), funds may become available for disbursement after the items have been deemed delivered to their shipping destination as described in this help page. "

2025-06-14_09-03-40.jpg

eBay does not provide a detailed list of those scenarios but they may include (but are not limited to) - new/occasional sellers, sellers who have unresolved claims filed by buyers, sellers with unusual selling patterns (like selling items at a higher value than usual), or other performance related issues.

Most of the examples I've seen in the US community are sellers who typically sell items below ~$100, then suddenly sell something for several thousand dollars - but that of course is by no means the only criteria they are looking at.

Here are a couple of threads about it from the US community just for more info:

https://community.ebay.com/t5/Payments/Payouts-permanently-on-hold-Chat-rep-says-100-of-accounts-wil...

I'm not sure if the same policy is in effect for the UK as well, but that would be my best guess as to why you are seeing this change to delay your payouts until after delivery even though you have a business, not private, account.

kat@ebay  - you might want to check in with the US community team to see if they have any other info they can share with you (they are well aware as there have been many posts about it there) and as I've suggested to them, updating the email template and customer service scripts being used for this issue would probably save you all some headaches. 😉

Re: New Payout Rules for Business Accounts

Just a little update, finally spoke to someone yesterday who confirmed that restrictions had been placed on my account from the 5th June, but they were lifted on 15th June. So anything sold from 15th onwards should be paid out as usual. Obviously they weren't, so I spoke to someone in the payment dispute team who ensured me that they would do a manual reversal which may take 48hrs. So those funds and any others going forward should now be released as usual.  We will wait & see, I shall not be holding my breath!!

Re: New Payout Rules for Business Accounts

Well no surprise no payouts. Someone was supposed to call back yesterday & didn't, tried again this morning only to be on hold for 20mins, then cut off. Why is it so damn difficult to get to speak to the correct department at ebay kat@ebay & if you strike lucky & get to speak to someone they can't see details of previous conversations & tell you something contradictory.

Re: New Payout Rules for Business Accounts

We have received same notification and currently all our payouts are on hold until after customer has received item.  We are a business seller and have no defects or problems on my account. Complained to ebay and have been told it is happening

Hi ROBIN,

We are making changes to the way we process payments on eBay. Going forward, we’ll make your funds available for payout within 72 hours after we’ve confirmed delivery of the item. Until then, you’ll see a “hold” on your funds. This process helps keep our marketplace safe.

If you have any questions or concerns, just get in touch. Thanks for being part of the eBay community.

The payments terms of use do not support what the agent said to you.
