My local Yodel drop off point has said they will not take any parcels larger than a shoebox as they are "just a convenience store". They are the only local Yodel point. Is this normal? Are there "large" and "small" designated Yodel dropoffs?
thanks

P.S. It all ended with Yodel holding my parcel for 14 days at the delivery point near my house, then Yodel driver took it from there and lost it.

Hi
We had the same issue, despite us putting in the measurements on ebay and Yodel still coming up. It was a Morrisons Yodel drop off point that refused to take it.
We take it now to another News agents and they accepted it I know its a pain, but is there anyway further you can try.
Best wishes

Not sure of Yodel's T & C's if they are any different, but here is eBay's T & C's for size and weight, for listing items with a Cick & Collect option:
Your item weighs no more than 15kg (including packaging) and no one side of the parcel exceeds 90cm, with max dimensions of 0.324 cubic metres. (Any items that are too large or exceed the weight limit will be rejected on arrival at the Click & Collect location and may be disposed of, without reimbursement)

That's still much larger (and heavier) than most shoeboxes. For example, 0.324 cubic metres with a 90cm limit on the longest side equates to a box that is 90cm x 60cm x 60cm (or 90cm x 70cm x 51cm etc).
A previous thread suggests this "shoebox size" is an unwritten policy being followed by some Yodel depot managers.

That's all I could find on the eBay help pages @4_bathrooms .
I've never used Yodel, so perhaps Mr Google may help there? A reveal of Yodel's policies ?

I'm not sure if it is Yodel or "Yodel Direct" that is involved; the latter is a poor relation to the former. It might also depend on how the drop off service was booked; i.e. through a broker such as Packlink or directly via Yodel. The eBay help pages are for services booked via Packlink where eBay's/Packlink's policies would apply.
In the other thread Anita@ebay stated the drop off points should not be refusing the parcels. However, it also seems the reason they were refusing them was because their designated Yodel driver had told them to refuse anything larger than a shoebox as that is what their depot/manager had instructed them to do.

Oh what a minefield! Glad I don't use either service, Yodel or Click & Collect.

Actually...Google did help. Yodel's website states the maximum size that can be sent is 60cm x 50cm x 50cm (0.15m³) and up to 10kg in weight. Maybe that's the issue.

I see the Yodel website also says you can't send glass or china items at all - or "documents" (whatever that may mean).

I also have been caught out with this issue with yodel. I messaged pack link asking why the larger box size was still being offered on eBay listings, despite yodel's own website stating their limits being about half the size! The reply was that they would look to change the options showing on eBay. Not exactly filling me with confidence given earlier messages here advising that actually one can send the larger size re the agreement between eBay and yodel. Problem is, there are limited options if sending bulky large items.

We have had this issue too. I've been driving around for hours and nowhere will take it. Ridiculous.

My local ones take them quite big but not the alloted 60 x 50 x 50cm sizes, of course they should absolutely take even these size parcels

There seems to be an ongoing issue here- so I am going to try and remember to bring this up in the Wednesdays open question sessions on here, as the official feedback that yodel is accepting larger items via eBay sales does not seem to be too helpful. I am just frustrated that as a relatively new seller I had to cancel x2 orders as the yodel alternative postage was not an option (not just the price, but also having to drop off at a depot about 7 miles away-I don't drive and a heavy bulky item on public transport is not possible). All this was preventable if eBay just updated their postage options for yodel.

I use Royal Mail. Free collection from your doorstep. I simply leave my parcels outside in my safe place if I'm going out which you can nominate if you buy postage through the Royal Mail website
ive used this for a couple of years since they stopped charging for collections and it's wonderful. I would recommend it

The post cost for yodel was £4 vs £18 for Royal Mail, hence why this isn't an option.

Hello all,
This was previously brought up to us here, and we were looking into this to get this resolved. I have now been advised that all Yodel stores have been informed about the correct parcel dimensions, so hopefully this shouldn't be happening going further.
Thank you,
Anita

It seems to me it isn't the drop-off points that are causing the issue but the Yodel collection depots.
Packlink clearly have an arrangement where Yodel agreed to accept parcels larger than what they would normally handle. However, it seems some individual Yodel depots have instructed their drivers not to collect anything larger than what they normally handle. This appears to have caused a stalemate at affected drop-off points who have been instructed by eBay/Packlink to accept larger packages even though they already know their regular Yodel collection driver will refuse to take them.

What do we do if they refuse to collect given already paid for the postage through eBay?
