Interesting visibility issues

I have been experimenting listing on another platform well known for clothing and I listed a couple of items today at exactly the same time. Prices were equivalent when I remove ebay fees listing elsewhere. Between both items on Ebay I had a single view. Both within a few hours have sold on the other platform.

I have always been loyal to Ebay as this is the roots of where I began selling online, however with increasing fees and ebay taking 51% of selling costs (this now includes postage as sales have dropped so significantly that it is no longer beneficial to post using an account with Royal Mail, and obviously includes shop fees) it is difficult not to look elsewhere. I know ebay isnt failing as such as there share price is on the increase. It just isnt as profitable and viable as it once was for me.

I also removed promoted listings as have many since the new structure of if anyone clicks on a listing then ebay charge the promotion fee, even if the sale didnt come from the person who clicked on the promotional advert, but my sales have barely been affected due to the low bar that was set, however my click through rate is increasing. It is still poor I believe at 0.9%, as research suggests it should be around 2-3% for my category however I would be interested to hear from others.

Experienced sellers usually have systems in place that have served them well over the years. As times change, those habits may need to change. If I were you, I would look at increasing click-thru and sales rates by improving your photo lighting and photo backgrounds to be more like your photos with the cloud grey backgrounds. For a quick example, search Completed listings for "Martina Liana" "14" pre-owned in Wedding Dresses and check out the photos for the 3 that have sold recently. 146735910295 is a similar price, and even has photos closer to yours within the listing, but the Main Photo is much more likely to make someone look twice. Good luck with your selling, and with experimenting with different platforms!

Same situation here. I posted similar on this thread,

Totally agree with many of your points

I have promoted listings which haven’t seen a view at all so I wonder at its value

The problem I see is that once it is promoted eBay will assume any purchaser has viewed because of the promotion
