Do I include VAT on a buy it now price or is it added after sale?

Hi,

 I am after your help please! I hqve just started a business seller account. We are a VAT registered business that sells elsewhere.

Now, when listing an item as buy it now, do I put the price including VAT, or is the VAT added when I send the invoice.

Also, with auction items, i guess the VAT would have to be added at end of auction? Or say if the item sells for £120, is 20% of that already VAT (So I have effectively sold the item for £100)

I have tried to search other posts but can't seem to find this exact topic... Any help much appraciated!

eBay prices are inclusive of VAT because it's a B2C transaction, so price with VAT included, the same applies to auctions, whatever the final price is VAT is included not added on top.

You never have to send an invoice, it is all done for you, If a buyer requests a VAT invoice you send an invoice showing the VAT paid.

On your listings it will show.

I provide invoices with VAT separately displayed.

... and going further there is only a requirement to send a "tax invoice" where the seller and buyer are both registered for VAT.
