For some time E bay have been promoting advertising. This seems to be in place of the listing being visible in a Google search . We have seen a major fall off in E bay sales since the Covid outbreak , most of the items we have listed do not now show up on a Google search. I have looked at E bay advertising but I am unable to find the cost of these adverts. I will soon have to decide weather to keep our higher value items on the E bay system or to go with another on line advertiser. I am talking to three at the moment. I would like to know if any other sellers use E bay advertising and if so have there sales improved, also are the listings showing up in a Google search.

The UK site is the petri dish for eBay to test untethering Promotions from actual sales metrics (both direct and halo) which makes decisions like yours very difficult as there is no data. If you Items are uncommon enough they will show up in Google searches for free, which also clouds the data.

Thank you but that does not answer the question. We know that there is less visibility on our items and on the items of other sellers as we do check this from time to time. Data or not we are not getting the best out of our classified listings so we will soon need to decide the best way forward. However I still need to find the cost of the ads that E bay are from time to time promoting.

Re my comments above, since posting them I have just come off the phone after speaking to someone at E bay for more that half an hour. The person I spoke to was very help full but it did take some time to get an answer. I now understand how to promote a listing but I have also been told that Classifies adds cannot be promoted. If anyone out there is reading this and wants to get more viewing on a Google search for a classified add, it cant be done. You will therefore have to use other on line sites as we will now do. It seems to me that E bay are again shooting themselves in the foot again by making something which should be easy to do too complicates and hard to understand. A bit more help for existing sellers would get a lot more listings on the e bay site.

We use ebay offsite ads which seem to be working well for us. We are selling more from offsite ads than from ebay itself!

I know forum users must get bored of me repeating the same thing,
BUT - You-tube. The OPs products are crying out for how to use or
how to fit videos with links here to buy.
My you-tube videos got me approx £1.5k in extra sales over the last week or so.
This is not boasting. Its saying if I can do it - etc etc , and trying to help give ideas.
Costs nothing to try other than time.
None of my videos point people here. But 99% of my efforts are elsewhere

I've used eBay advertising for a few months but only had 3 sales through it and one of them cancelled within 5 minuets of buying the item saying it was bought in error as they thought is was a different item, even though the title and description were for the correct. Problem is you can not get back the promotion fees when this happens.

Thank you, did you try a Google search to see if they were visible?

I google search ours and all are visible. In fact one of biggest selling listings on ebay gets sold through Google search i.e. ebay offsite listings.

I did a google search and found some of them, which is a good thing.
