Action required: update your information for INFORM Consumers Act compliance

Anyone else had one of these emails?

Asks you to update:

Phone number

Email address

Bank account information

Tax reference number

Address

If you don’t certify this information by 04 Apr, 2025, a payout block will be placed on your account.

Message also appears on awaiting shipment page, and messages.

There is nothing to update/correct on the page it links to and there isn't anywhere to put a tax ref. number, is it VAT or Income tax?

How on earth do I certify it?  Certify - "attest or confirm in a formal statement."

It appears to be US legislation triggered  if you have sold 200 or more new or unused items totaling more than $5,000 USD in a 12-consecutive-month period over the last 24 months on ebay.com.

Pretty sure I haven't.

Here is eBay's info page about that act. It seems it applies to any seller meeting the threshold who sells items via eBay.com to buyers in the US.

I tried to generate a sales report in my seller hub covering 1st March 2023 - 1st March 2025 to see if that would have been useful - i.e. by filtering out eBay.com sales - but when I try to generate the report eBay "runs into a problem".

Apparently you can request an "exception" because your trading address is your residential address. This doesn't mean you don't have to comply if you crossed the threshold just that US buyers will only see your state (county) and country instead of your full address.

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

I received this today and looked at what I had on file and it was all filled out correctly. I submitted it and a short while later they sent me a message saying they couldn't verify me as info was missing. When I clicked on the link (from within eBay messages) it simply came up with " Thanks, we're verifying your updated information" page. Not sure if it's been accepted or if I need to do anything more.

I've probably sold more than $5,000 USD in to the USA so not overly bothered by that aspect.
