A week with no sales.

Been on Ebay since 2008 and this is the first time I have had no sales for a week.

Had a couple of messages and sent out a few offers but no bites.

Re: A week with no sales.

Yet, your still happy to continue selling with that same supposed tax.....

If you disagree with it, then stop selling completely.  Or you are just making a mockery of yourself.

And I would be willing to bet, that your happy to sell elsewhere, where nothing is free.

Re: A week with no sales.

"I have stopped buying on Ebay since the introduction of the buyers tax and I will not be the only one"

Same here, except in my case it's in protest against Simple Delivery.  My last purchase was on 29th March.  Previously I'd bought several items a month, but now I would only buy from ebay if I couldn't get what I wanted elsewhere and it hasn't happened yet.  I rarely even search on ebay now - just occasionally, but only if I want to check something.  Ebay has lost more than my custom though - it's lost my loyalty, and customer loyalty is the worst thing a company can lose.

Re: A week with no sales.

Yes I have listings and guess what no sales. I have already removed a number of listings with more to follow.

Buyers simply do not want to pay the Ebay tax. Ebay think they are like the government and raise taxes and suffer the consequences.

Re: A week with no sales.

Not a tax.  They are fees, which private sellers have been getting away with for ages.

Maybe they should be charging you directly instead, is that what you would prefer?

It's a model of charging that does work on other sites, yet on Ebay, it's a tax.  Seriously?

Or maybe, it's just that you want your cake and eat it too.

The model may work on other sites, however buyers on ebay have had over 25 years of fee free buying. It's not surprising that there are objections to paying BPF.  I haven't seen much effort from ebay to sell the changes to buyers.

Re: A week with no sales.

I agree with you, they haven't done a great deal about it and buyers have had that time.

But have you not noticed, it's not the buyers that are doing the complaining, but the sellers?

The buyers don't even see it.

Re: A week with no sales.

Not for “ages”

couple of years max?

granted there were the fortnightly 70% off fees promotions

I was happy to pay the fees and get on selling and posting  as I see fit

now ebay have turned into a constricted boa snake for some ridiculous reason

🙄

And same here, no sales for weeks on end and more except for one yesterday and then had to go have a lie down and think how lucky I was

Re: A week with no sales.

Not really bothered by the BPF as a buyer, as long as the price is ok.

Re: A week with no sales.

The buyers don't even see it - buyers are going to be aware that prices have gone up. Those buyers that object may not complain and simply take their money elsewhere.

Re: A week with no sales.

My eBay sales are very slow at the moment, the worst ever, my website sales are up though which is good news for me as i don't pay eBay's over the top fees.

Re: A week with no sales.

I thought the buyers DID see it --  at checkout.?

(Not 100% sure about that as I've not bought anything here since it was introduced)

Where it looks like a price increase, even if it isn't.

Bad optics from ebay to draw attention to any fee.

Buyers are hardly likely to be bothered to even try to find these well concealed boards to complain.  They're far more likely to just say "S*d that!" and go elsewhere.

Yes, it's private sellers complaining, SC is now swamped with them and quite rightly so.  Ebay has gone too far and deserves to suffer and it's a pity that honest business sellers are being caught in the cross-fire.

But I can see some irony that, in part, it was business sellers' continuous demands that wrongly registered businesses should be controlled that led to BPF and SD hitting innocent private sellers in THAT cross-fire.  Which is now re-bounding back onto legitimate businesses.

Re: A week with no sales.

Seriously, you now think Ebay needs to suffer.

Why are you even posting here?

Do you want Ebay to go down, as that is very much the impression that your giving now?

As regards buyers not posting, I can see at least one above, who is saying it's not an issue!

But at the end of the day, if the prices have gone up (only for private sellers as regards BPF), then it is due to those same sellers being greedy.  Ebay have just shifted the way fees are paid, nothing more.

And do tell, how exactly are Ebay drawing attention to this fee?

It's certainly not something that is promoted when telling sellers that it's free to sell.

And from what I've seen, you have to go looking to find out what it is.

Most buyers won't even be aware of it.

Oh and just out of interest, how exactly have you come to the conclusion, that these particular changes are down to only business sellers complaining?

Do you not think that it is more likely that this is Ebay responding to competition, such as Vixtxd?

Or is this something that you have evidence off, that ebay have announced?

More likely to my mind, is that you are assuming this with no evidence at all.
