Before you switch off for a well-earned break, check out these simple steps to help you maximise your last-minute sales and provide a smoother delivery experience in the run up to Christmas.

1. Remember to check carrier last posting dates

It’s important for buyers to know that their items will arrive in time for Christmas. Please follow the links below to see recommended last posting dates for Christmas delivery 2023. For any other carriers, please visit their respective service pages for more information.

Domestic last posting dates from Evri, Royal Mail & Yodel

International last posting dates from Evri, Royal Mail & Yodel

2. Choose faster tracked services (where applicable)

Using faster, tracked services enables items to show estimated delivery dates before Christmas. Not only can this help to drive last-minute sales, it also gives buyers visibility of where their item is, which can reduce customer queries and the opening of ‘item not received’ cases.

Just remember to upload tracking information before the latest estimated delivery date!

3. Get an 'In time for Christmas' badge on your listings

Our ‘In time for Christmas’ badge is now live to help buyers find items with faster delivery, while helping you to maximise last-minute sales. If your item is estimated to arrive before Christmas, the badge will automatically appear on your listings.

Another thing to think about in the run up to Christmas is next day delivery. During this period, customers are looking to get their items as quickly as possible, so offering a next day delivery option could help with conversion. You will need to have a same day dispatch time to offer this.

4. Schedule time away

If you’re planning a well-earned break over the festive season and won't be able to process your sales as normal, you can schedule some time away. Here's how to schedule your time away if needed:

  1. Go to your Time away settings
  2. Select Schedule time away.
  3. Select Allow item sales or Pause item sales while on time away.
  4. Set a Start date and End date for your time away. To start your time away immediately, select today's date.
  5. Select Apply.

You can also set an automatic response for buyers who contact you through eBay Messages while you're away.

It’s worth checking your settings in advance to make sure your auction listings won’t end while you’re away. For more information, visit our scheduling listings and automatically relisting items pages, and check if you’ve set your listings to automatically send offers to buyers.

Thank you for selling on eBay.
