This is not a *slimming club* really.

I think it would be nice to have a place to come & chat about weight loss ideas (safe sensible ones only please!),
to share personal experiences and achievements, and also to ask for help.

Lindi is our resident expert, and has kindly offered her help.
Just introduce yourself and come on in, you are most welcome!

Hi, Can I join in here? I started weight watchers (again) yesterday, I've been before but never kept it up. I am 4'11" and weigh 11st 11lb (ohmigod!)

I broke my neck in a car accident in july so i haven't been able to exercise, i used to swim and go to aqua, and i don't think being in hosp or at home for last 8 months helps cause i'm bored, and its a bit different form working 12 hr shifts as a nurse. I have put on about 6lb since accident, witch i don't think is that bad (well could have been a lot worse) but i don't feel at all toned.

Anyway, i feel like i really have to lose the weight this time, i've got more reasons than ever now,
1)Having surgery in a couple of months
2)Need to be as fit as possible to increase chances of getting mobile again
3)Being fat is depressing and so is breaking your neck, don't want to go down that slippery slope
4)Don't want more long term health worries
5)Lovely hubby has booked us flights to see my sis in Oz in July to cheer me up! Bless him!

So that, any help, encouragement, tellings off, etc etc will be more than welcome!

Also is there anyone who lives near me that would be interested in doing some sort of gentle exercise?

Claire

This thread has already got a lot of great advice, but if you want to ask a question feel free, theres a lot of sensible heads out there and someone will try their best to help. Also Lindi is a weight watchers consultant and is extremely helpful, so if you need any support with your diet she's a sweetie!

Good morning everyone! Thanks for the welcome Clare!
Just wanted to let you know it is day 2 for me, and I'm doing ok, I'm determined that i don't want to get bored with food this time as then I just want to give up! So.....this morning, got up late (about an hour ago) as i didn't sleep well, and was really quite hungry, really couldn't face the whole branflakes thing, so quick hunt in the fridge and I've just had the nicest breckie ever! For those of you doing WW here it is, it sounds really bad, but actually isn't that bad, and as its late i won't eat now before lunch!

2 healthy eating scotch pancakes (tesco) 2 points
2 streaky bacon rashers well grilled 2 points
2 spoons of maple syrup 1 point

Yum!

Oh dear, how do you carbohydrate eaters manage?

Mrs Flopity and I thought for a change we would have beans on toast as we hadn't had it for about 2 years, so we bought some bread and some beans. My God I felt ill! Not wind, but almost immediate bloatiness. We had this at 8pm and only now at midnight do I feel any better.

Give me a roast chicken and lots of veg anytime! I think I learned my lesson tonight.

Another 1 lb lost for me this week, which considering it was Mother's day yesterday and I ate loads isn't too bad at all. I was expecting to have put weight on!

Hi All,
How has everyones week been?
I have been doing ok, sticking within my points etc, although we had indian last night (whoops!) I was very restrained tho!
It is my first weigh day tomorrow and i'm nervous as hell, silly eh?!
Anyway, on a brighter note, I have made a discovery, which everyone else prob already knows! Tescos healthy eating range now has WW points on the pack, so i don't have to check everything on my calculator before i buy it! I bought some bits on Sat and they are lower than i thought! (yippie, can eat more!)
So Saturday had a lovely roast, chicken, roast pots, cauliflower cheese, carrots, brocoli, all for 9 points!
Have to go now, trip to tescos!
Keep your fingers crossed for me tomorrow, I'll post and let you know how i get on

Hi Everyone,

At christmas i gave up smoking and despite still exercising every day i have put on about half a stone which is really depressing. I dont want to start smoking again but i can feel my resolve weakening.

Do most people suffer a weight gain? If so then when does the desire to eat sweet things actually stop?!!

rachel it usually settles down when you have given smoking up , The desire for sweet stuff will go once you find something to substitute for it , try a meriguen

Rachel when a friend of mine gave up smoking she got herself a stock of raw veggies and cut them into fingers.

Apparently eating celery is so dull you don't want to eat any more but it takes so long the craving is past by the time you're finished 🙂

Room for a little one?......LOL....I wish!

Hi everyone! I gave up smoking 4 weeks ago after 20 years (see thread below, Giving up smoking!) & already in that time I have gained 12lb's!!!!
The problem is I had 65lb's to lose before I stopped the ciggys! (thus now a grand total of..........77lbs to lose!) Gulp!
Well the cravings are slipping away & the weight isn't, so TONIGHT EVERYONE i've joined WW (& this thread).
Like with the ciggy's i'm not going to look back or down 'cos it's pointless! lol
My friend gave up the cigs & after 4 months of dieting, started smoking again! She said that the weight wouldn't come off because her metabolism had slowed right down!
Hmmm! I am hoping to prove that theory wrong, so watch this space anyone who wants to give up & lose weight too.
I dont wanna be following suit!
Feel positive right now & will no doubt need your support along the way. Well done all of you that are achieving your dreams & I hope I can do half as well as you lot!

Oh & just for the record! I have also done every diet in the book, got it all off once too (about 5 years ago).
Have since had two children (already had the husband) & it's now time to sort myself out!
NO EXCUSES!
*did i say that?*
look forward to chatting again soon

Hi everyone,

Right, i'm determined not to start smoking again!!!

I went swimming this morning and i have decided that today is the day that i will start to loose that extra half a stone!!
I've locked away the biscuits at work and at home and have been out to buy some healthy things to snack on. A friend of mine has suggested yoga might help so perhaps i will give that a go as well. I will keep you posted as to how i get on. i'm hoping that i will loose the weight i have put on in time for my birthday so wish me luck!!

Bye for now
