This is not a *slimming club* really.

I think it would be nice to have a place to come & chat about weight loss ideas (safe sensible ones only please!),
to share personal experiences and achievements, and also to ask for help.

Lindi is our resident expert, and has kindly offered her help.
Just introduce yourself and come on in, you are most welcome!

hi golfy! How's it gone this week? I got onto the scales in the chemist's yesterday and it looks as if I've lost about half a stone which is fantastic for the first week. I've eaten fairly sensibly because the infection's gone and I've got my appetite back. I know half a stone seems a lot but I really have got a lot to lose - I'd tell you how muchbut I can do without troll attacks at the moment!

I got a treadmill for Christmas, guess what used it 4 times and then forgot all about it. Going to start on it tomorrow as I really do need the excercise will be interesting to see what difference it will make.

Has anyone else notice a difference when they started exercising?

I have been doing WW for the last two weeks. I am due to weigh in tomorrow but have been naughty and weighed myself. Two pounds last week and two this week, so i am relatively happy. I'm calling at the local leisure centre tomorrow to get prices for their fitness suite. I live in a one-bed flat so haven't got room for exercise equiptment. anyway, since i left my husband i haven't had a proper night out in over twelve months so i reckon a night or two (if my parents will baby-sit) will do me the world of good. I know that with my bad back i'll have to take things easy, but I am looking forward to getting back on a treadmill again.

Well done 210# ruth , a night out at the leisure will do you the world of good , go for it

211# peanut butter is very high in calories so use it sparingly , fish fingers are good grilled , special k is ok but porridge is better for you . Porridge is a slow release energy, keeps u feeling fuller longer.

Cottage cheese is good if the low fat one

Fish is excellent
Pasta is good but depending on the portion can be high in calories .

Just jumped on the scales - poor scales - and yes, it is definitely a 2lb loss this week, making four in total. going the right way.

My tip for success, ladies and gentleman - is cut out the alcohol completely. the 'just the one glass' doesn't work because it often turns into 'just two won't hurt' and...

Hi. This is my first time posting on this thread, but I've been reading it with interest since it began. It was very timely for me as I'd recently started putting my own fitness plan into action to get rid of the weight I'd put on after giving up smoking!

My plan of action was simply to get as much exercise as possible, as I was eating fairly healthily anyway. I've also been reading the BBC diet trials book, which is brilliant. Although the book does briefly mention the various diets available, it's not really a diet book as such, it concentrates more on getting you thinking about what you're eating and basically puts food into perspective, which is just what I needed! Well worth borrowing from the library if not buying on Ebay, lol.

Anyway, I've been on my best behaviour for the last 4 weeks and I'm very proud to announce that after weighing myself this morning I've lost 2 pounds this week and a grand total of 7 pounds in 4 weeks! I'm chuffed. That (and the fact my jeans fit again!) have given me the incentive to carry on.

Thanks to Clare for a really useful thread. Right now I have a date with an exercise bike so speak to you all later :0)

janey_2004 - I think mine was well worth the investment, but it really depends how determined you are to use it! I use mine for at least half an hour a day, sometimes have 2 half hour sessions a day if I'm feeling particularly energetic! I have to watch tv at the same time though else I'd be bored stiff.

They're actually very reasonably priced these days so it's not a huge investment - but if you're not determined to keep at it, your exercise bike could quickly turn into the most expensive clothes horse you've ever bought :0)

Thought you might all like a nice weight loss story. One of my best friends has been extremely overweight for many years and started at Weight Watchers with great success but plateuaed and could not lose any further weight, she then joined a weight loss programme where you live on food packs, 8 litres of water and shakes.

She has now lost half her body weight....11 stone!! She has now gone back to Weight Watchers to maintain her weight. She's a new person!!
