Off you jolly well go then? After you've tried it for a while I think you might have a re-think.

I lived without electricity until I was about six, and no mains water until I was nine. We didn't think anything of it at the time. There is a certain kind of peace and simplicity in living like that, especially in rural areas like that lovely does, but I think I am too old now to go back to living like that. She looks extremely happy, and I can understand that.

Being a soft townie who has never lived without running water , electricity and modern facilities, I wouldn’t like it at all.😁

It would be very difficult now, having lived with all mod cons, to go back to that way of life. But the lady has never known any different. You don't miss what you never had.

I lived in a cottage very similar in South Wales for 4 years.
No electricity and no running water, except for the stream running beside the cottage.

Never heard this before today but it seems apt for this thread.

I wouldn't mind living off grid at all in a beautiful countryside with some land to grow veg, but would like a pony and trap with some big containers to reduce the slog of water collection and a dog for company. I wonder how she gets supplies and how far she is from a bus stop, or maybe she drives.

It's hard work and in the winter it can get really tough.
It might sound like fun and it might be for a while but when you've been used to "civilisation", the fun wears off after a while.

It may be harsh in this system of things what with the cold and wet weather and the limited amounts of food heating and ability to source necessaties without much money etc but when the global paradise becomes a reality as it has been promised then I'm sure it will be absolutely wonderful. Hope I am part of it. I have to be patient I'll love it to be honest.
