What a sensational scoop by the SUN newspaper, Yes that Bastion of British Journalism has done it again.
Somehow they managed to obtain a film of the Queen with her parents and sister at Balmoral more than 80 years ago. They are shown briefly doing a Nazi salute. They appeared to be messing about, having a laugh but there is no soundtrack to confirm one way or another.
Questions are now being raised about the moral loyalty of The Queen Mother and King George VI. They also, by association, question the motives of a 6 year old who has reigned this country since 1952.
So what are the SUN trying to prove? I suspect it's a simple case of free publicity but the reality is that it underpins the tabloid as one of the worst examples of journalistic garbage ever to hit the newsagents.

I agree completely.

It is quite sad really that they feel the need to go to such desperate measures to get a 'sensational' front page story.
Anyone with any sense will be able to see the 'story' in context in that in 1933 that salute did not have the meaning that it came to have a few years later.
The question is how did the paper obtain it, I hope the lawyers take them to the cleaners.

A despicable attempt to dredge up an 81 year old story about a child's innocent playtime, and their feeble attempt to make a meal out of it. Do the Sun really think that the Queen, at that age, had the remotest idea what the salute meant ? And this trashy editorial accompanied of course, by the Sun's usual cringeworthy play-on-words banner headline.
Another despicable thing is that this rag costs 70p.

More 'despicable' is that millions are willing to pay 70p for it! More than any other paper.

We all know who reads what.
Jim Hacker: "Don't tell me about the press. I know exactly who reads the papers:
- The Daily Mirror is read by people who think they run the country;
- The Guardian is read by people who think they ought to run the country;
- The Times is read by people who actually do run the country;
- The Daily Mail is read by the wives of the people who run the country;
- The Financial Times is read by people who own the country;
- The Morning Star is read by people who think the country ought to be run by another country;
- And the Daily Telegraph is read by people who think it is."
Sir Humphrey: "Prime Minister, what about the people who read the Sun?"
Bernard Woolley: "Sun readers don't care who runs the country, as long as she's got big t**s."

I wonder why edward meeting hitler makes him fascinated with facism in the minds of the journalists...half of USA congress at the time met hitler...george bush's grandad sold hitler weapons ,and 70 percent of the the worlds leaders were meeting with Adolf as well and supplying him with this that or the other,including Stalin and Uk's foriegn secretary.
Garbage springs to mind ,I hope they get a backlash. Important history ,as much as what my Gran had for breakfast 80 years ago.

Up to 1942 all American children had to do the salute every day when they pledged allegiance to the flag. It was stopped then and now they hold their right hand over their heart instead. So by that reckoning.....................!!!

Some people might claim, that it shows they are National Socialists at heart. And isn't that possibly true.
