I made myself a full roast beef dinner, just for me. Aunt Bessie helped me with the roasties and the Yorkies but the beef was in for about 4 or 5 hours and the carrots and sweetcorn were still growing when the beef went in!
He had pizza and spaghetti.
Then he had yoghurt and I had a Cornetto.

Someone gave me these this morning (amongst other stuff that I passed on to others)
These carrots were enormous, weighed 7lbs.
It took me ages to peel and slice them....
and just as long again to blanch them, bag them and put them in the freezer!!

It said on youtube that they blanch and cool more evenly cut like that.
I freeze the sweet corn just as it is, it doesn't need blanching.

We always buy carrots in 1 kilo bags and cut them like CG has. We then blanch them and freeze them.

The only frozen veg I like are peas & baby broad beans. I only eat the other veggies fresh.

Me neither (hence the you tube vid on how to blanch them) but we'd never eat 7lb before they went off!! It seemed a shame to let them go to waste. This time of year it's a job to give them away. Hubby gave a whole carrier bag of green beans to a complete stranger the other day just so as not to waste them!!
