That's sad - his books were my first foray into adulthood-bookworld when I was about 14-15. I thought they were hilarious.

They gave him a lovely obituary in the Times Towery. I re read Virgin Soldiers not so long ago and, apart from the humour, was struck by the innocence of it all.
