She was always an affectionate cat, coming to me for cuddles.
Now she stays in the kitchen and doesnt like me to pick her up
She has been like this for about 2 weeks.
It could be the hot weather that is bothering her.
I cant open the windows, as I am worried about her trying to climb out.
Anyone else had similar problems.

I have cats and it sounds to me that maybe you should take her to the vet, if she doesnt want to be picked up any more she may be in pain??? years ago I had a cat that acted very much the same and it tuned out to be an abcess under her tail..
I hope shes ok.

I was concerned and took her to the vet on Wednesday.
Vet gave her a good examination and could find nothing wrong.
She is eating and drinking OK, and her poo looks normal.

My cat is nearly thirteen and every time the weather gets hottish she wont eat and gets picky,, then it cools down shes fine!!. Could be just the heat especially if shes older. I used to give my other cat Cooling Tablets but do not know if they really do anything or not. |I cant see them about now. make sure water is fresh all the time,,,thats important too.

I change her water about 3 or 4 times a day so she always has fresh
She is letting me pick her up now, but if I take her into living room, she will jump down and run back into the kitchen.

maybe its the living room?
have yu moved or added anything recently?
flowers, or plants
has she had a scare in there? got trapped at all?

You may have something there.
I recently bought a wheeled globe cocktail cabinet.
I will try putting that in another room.

That might be it, MustardTree, some cats take fright about the strangest things.
If something new arrives at home, cats like to give it the once-over to make sure
it's ok, and usually approach with caution, sniffing around before accepting whatever
it is.
We inherited a china, cat-sized and quite real-looking china cat from Hubby's Grandma
when she died. Our cats both gave it the once-over and were very cautious - you could
see them relax when they found it wasn't real!
Could it be something on you, for instance handcream or deoderant that they don't
like the smell of (nothing personal you understand!). Our tabby cat won't let me touch
him when I've just put handcream on whereas normally he's the friendliest cat in the
world!

Animals sense a lot of things,,even when you probably might not realize what it is yourself. Hope shes more content today perhaps?,,keep us updated.

She is back to normal now.
Over the last couple of days, she has been laying down in different places, the bathroom, the passage, the spare bedroom.
Then yesterday she came in the living room and jumped up on me.
At the moment, she is sitting on the desk in front of me and generally getting in the way, which is usual.
Also dunking her paw in my mug of tea.
Probably she just felt a bit off colour and down due to hot weather.
I will probably never know, but she is definately her old self now.

Ahh, that's good news, possibly down to the very hot, muggy weather the last few days.
Glad normal service is resumed!
