Search Sort resets to "Best Match" Safari iPad

Every search change the sort reverts to Best Match.

I can't use the ebay app, it's one of the apps that on trying to install it it informs me I am

a stingy old git and should  buy a new ipad[well words to that effect].

So i have to use safari.  

Is there any way to set defaults for the page?

you need to 'customise' the search so that it remembers your preferences

click on the tiny arrow and choose customise

that was what I was looking for. thanks.

but it doesn't work, the save is very feint and doesn't do any thing.

it says apply changes on my pages, try changing something and see what happens then
