Ebay will not allow me to sell a LEGAL historical book ideal for Historians studying World War 2 ??

I have tried listing an anotated 1969 version of 'Mein Kampf' which is a legal book of historical importance. The book contains author in sight and explanations about the ideals and content which would be ideal for any historian studying this area of History. The book was published by 'Hutchinsons of London' in 1969 by H.G.Wells???

I have tried to sell this three times but ebay are taking it down 'automatically' i fear due to A.I ignorance. I have been a member on ebay since 2003 and never had any issues with selling books of historical interest...this is WOKE censorship gone mad?!. It is a LEGAL to buy book in the UK ?? there is plenty of other politcal books available ??

If you have relisted numerous times after eBay removed it, the next time could mean a ban on selling for you.

Quite simply the book is not allowed on eBay UK.

It may well be legal to sell it in UK but if eBay refuses to sell it that is not AI but their choice.

If you try to list it [repeatedly] they may ban you.  They do not allow appeal

Thing is the reason the listing was ended is not a truthful reason on ebay's behalf...the book is a historical document nothing offensive or different to 1000's of books available on ebay...there is no REAL good reason for this listing to not be allowed? this is the UK it is supposed to be a legal book to sell worldwide??

You may well be right but it's eBay's business as to how they run their business.  Their "bans" are with a broad brush "Nazi memorabilia" would cover yours despite the obvious research point.

They do not have a "suggestions box"

eBay has a Policy for "Violence & Violent Criminals"

Do you think the book would be included in this policy?

I have never seen this book, so cannot comment.

@davidg393

Certain authors, primarily 'Holocaust deniers' such as David Irving, are banned from some countries such as Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and France.  They can be sold elsewhere.  In saying this France and Italy have a more relaxed approach but it is better not to risk it on eBay.

Some countries (see below) have very strict laws on what can be sold in relation to pre-WW2 (1932 onwards) and WW2 itself.  Does the book contain a picture or photograph of a swastika on the cover or on any photographs you are using to advertise the book? - if so it will not be allowed to be sold on eBay unless you cover the offending symbol and in saying this it still should not be attempted to be sold to the above countries.

Any publication which glorifies war in eBay's eyes will be removed.  Unfortunately this is extremely subjective and eBay always act on the side of caution.  If in doubt don't list it or at least exclude the countries above from your countries that you will post to.

I have been selling military history books for over 15 years on eBay and have occasionally fallen foul of the rules myself - sometimes my mistake, by forgetting to add countries to a block list, and others which have been entirely wrong.  Two examples:

1. A large circulation quarterly magazine purchased from a one of the biggest high street newsagents in Germany - I was told it was not allowed to be sold in Germany.

2. A book sponsored by the American government written by a Jewish professor who fled to America in 1939 and described the pogrom against the Jews in Germany in the lead up to the war.  Published in 1941 to inform the American public of what was happening in Europe - it was removed as "it glorified war"; it didn't even mention the war.

Unfortunately you just have to roll with these decisions; it is eBay's site and they make the rules.  There is no appeal.  Try a specialist book-selling platform - they tend to interpret the rules more accurately.

If you check the email you were sent it should give you an indication whether you can sell if you block the above countries.  If it doesn't indicate this then do not sell.  Although Mein Kampf can now be sold in Germany it has to be an authorised modern publication approved by the German government, eBay however still has a blanket ban on the book so don't relist on eBay.

The bottom line is that it's eBay's site and their rules.

Of interest is that there's a version in Hebrew.

Hi, no pictures of any ensigns or pictures of anything at all, the cover is blank. It was a anotated version of Mein Kapmf edited and commented on by H.G Wells published in 1969 in London by 'Hutchinsons publications'. There is a clear photo of the introduction by the scholar although it is 'Mein Kampf' translated into English?. I used it for referances when studying Government and Political History studies back in the 90's and found it in the garage and thought it would be of use to other students or collectors of literature from this period or topic. Ive purchased three previous copies on ebay over the years and sold others on too so what is their problem?. The rubbish available on ebay they choose to deny the sale of something as important as this book??? madness but sadly that seems to be the way of the world today...deny history, re-write history, cancel culture.

Anything can be 'intepreted' by anyone as anything...thats called a democracy and freedom of speech, an individual themself can only choose to 'act' on their learnings...people have the choice to either do the right thing or the wrong but albums, films, books surely can not be blamed ?? if so we might aswell of never fought in the world wars in the first place.

As eBay will decide, perhaps the paragraph will enlighten them in their decision to let you list your book.

At the end of the day, your reasoning makes no difference, certainly here anyway. Ebay rules are their rules, end of, just like you can walk into a shop and they can refuse to serve you, they have that right, just as ebay have the right to refuse listing of your book!

The problem here is though the reason ebay give is not justified if they had turned around and been up front and said 'we dont like your book you cant sell it on here' id of accepted it but to censor it for incorrect reasoning is absurd...but what isnt these days, cancel culture WOKE nocense. Bring on the war its what this spineless country needs.
