Mobile app

My mobile phone eBay app says it needs renewing but the new app won't download to my phone.  It's not a new phone. Had it a few years but it works for me apart from the new eBay app.

I've tried deleting the old app and trying from the App centre but it won't work.

anyone any ideas without me having to buy another phone. Which I don't really want to.

Any help,would be appreciated. Thanks.

The latest version of the eBay App requires iOS 16 or later.  If your phone doesn't support that operating system then, unfortunately, your only option will be to use the eBay mobile website via a browser instead. 

You should find that the mobile website has much the same functionality and a similar layout to the mobile app and you can add a shortcut link to your home page if you wish.

Thanks. I may have to buy a new one then. On the actual eBay website page on my phone the script is so small I need a magnifying glass as well as my specs to read it.

Not helpful at all. What you - Ebay - are saying is that perfectly good Ipads and Iphones are not welcome anymore.... Unacceptable, there is absolutely no reason that you cannot continue to suport perfectly valid operating systems...unless of course you have allowed Apple and forced this, so that more people, many who cannot afford to do so, have to get an unnecessary upgrade.

Same here, awful customer service, penny pinching and forcing customers to replace perfectly good phones. Should be a law against it.

Also having the same issue here. Absolutely ridiculous that perfectly good devices cannot use an app which was working perfectly well before, without buying a new phone. I refuse to do it.

I think I will be voting with my feet, eBay has changed too much for the average joe selling the odd unwanted item. This is the last straw I will not be forced into changing equipment just to use eBay. Bye bye eBay 25 year supporter gone.

According to a post on the UK community boards, the latest version of the eBay app requires Android 10 or later, or iOS 17 or later.

If you cannot upgrade your operating system or find an older version of the app that works with your current operating system, you should still be able to use a browser to go to ebay.co.uk instead.

If eBay browser links are opening in the Android version of the app automatically, you can disable that by going to your device Settings: Apps: eBay: Open by default: Opens supported links and choosing "Don't open in the app". iOS users can tap and hold an eBay browser link and choose "Don't open in the app".

Hi,

It’s easy to increase the text size on any website. On iphone, when in Safari, there are two A’s in the top left corner. Press this and at the top of the window you’ll see 2 A’s again. The right (larger) A can be pressed to increase the text size.

For any phone other than an android, Google: “increase browser text size on (phone)” and look for guides.

I for one, won’t be buying a new  iPhone as it’s wasteful  and unaffordable in this climate. I come to eBay for value and therefore should be supported to reuse in all formats.

Fix the problem.android  13..if you have Google app.that fine but download Google chrome.then open and search for eBay.  Then down load app to home screen. Works with EDF app that kept you waiting and waiting.instant now when click app.haveca good day everyone.
