Just tried opening the app on my android phone and get the message "this version is no longer supported. Please update to the latest version". Pressing the "update" goes to Google play but the only options are "Uninstall" or "Open" - no option to update. Pressing "Cancel" closes the app.
I suspect they pushed a new version of the app to deal with the changes introduced overnight but something has gone wrong somewhere.
Anyone else got this issue?

Just a little reminder for everyone to leave feedback in your device's app store (E.g. Play Store on Android), and to send a message to eBay's customer service. Hopefully they'll get the message that people are n ot happy with this update

Hi, yep that was my thoughts entirely !
But alot of apps are just jumping up the next level without even the courtesy to thier customers to give a few months notice or a overlay period to give you a chance.
I m not wanting to come across the wrong way, but most people use EBay to SAVE MONEY , if we all had money to buy the latest latest version of phones, we wouldn't be using EBAY, we would go to Amazon prime and get stuff the next day.
Well least theres loads of other sites that are still using older versions of apps.
Sad, been an eBay buyer since it kicked off, and the postal service was better too......

So I have once again been in contact with eBay CS to ask a question (I am blocked from complaining!!)
"Is there going to be a fix to this issue affecting so many and if so how long will we be waiting?"
Their response is that:-
'it isn't their fault'
'you need a phone that supports the new APP'
'they are not intending to fix things, as the APP is not supported by your phone'.
'you need to use google and type in ebay.co.uk'
My sales over the past two weeks are down 80%, so at least their income from their fees has fallen the same.
Good luck everyone.
Such a sad time that eBay once again are putting the nails in their coffin.
Will the last person to leave, please log off, turn out the lights and close the door behind you.
RIP eBay UK.

Same here, with another id I had since 1998/99. Loved it back then, not so much now, too many changes for me.

I’ve not added any new listings for a while. Just can’t be bothered anymore.

Using an old phone with Android 8.1
I'm not able to upgrade the Android version so I'm now unable to use the eBay app

All of my friends and myself and most of the people I work with no longer can get ebay app nor even looking at anything on it by using just the browser. Shame aa i used to buy lots of things and ebay must be losing lots of potential sales. Everyone just now uses vinted as no problem there

These constant app "updates" drive me round the twist...every single day there's a dozen from different companies telling me "they're fixing bugs" etc etc...I had to buy a new ipad 3 years ago because my previous one wouldn't allow me to update certain apps thus making them unusable/useless.
We all know it's a massive scam to get us to buy new phones/tablets every so often...can anyone tell me what is SO advanced in the new tech that makes apps such as the bbc weather app not work on my old ipad?....nope,me neither.
What some of these companies taking part in this scam need to realise is that if we can't use their apps,we can't spend our dosh on them.

I think I may have a solution to this problem.
If you’re buying or selling on eBay, you will no doubt get emails from them containing a link to the item you’re buying or selling.
When you do get an email with the link to your item, click on the item link and it will take you to your item.
As the eBay page opens, you will see the annoying message, ‘Update Required’
DO NOT click ‘EXIT’ button within the ‘Update’ box, but simply go back to your email message and click the same item link and you should be taken to your eBay item minus the ‘Update Required’ message.
It’s not a permanent fix, but it should give you access to the app.
Good luck !
