Just tried opening the app on my android phone and get the message "this version is no longer supported. Please update to the latest version". Pressing the "update" goes to Google play but the only options are "Uninstall" or "Open" - no option to update. Pressing "Cancel" closes the app.
I suspect they pushed a new version of the app to deal with the changes introduced overnight but something has gone wrong somewhere.
Anyone else got this issue?

Well this is absolutely ludicrous and unacceptable.
As an older eBayer I don’t have a newer phone and have no intention of getting one.
I have been a loyal eBay member for decades with 100% positive feedback on over 2500 reviews. It is outrageous that such bias and prejudice is being subjected upon us.
what should I do now? Start using Vinted

If you can't or don't want to buy an updated phone then you will have to use the site via www.ebay.co.uk on your mobile browser. eBay won't be rolling the update back to placate people using outdated tech that risks security.
Using older phones does reduce your security online though, so be aware that as your phone goes out of date it increases the chances of you being hacked or having your identity stolen
Second hand phones with newer OS are available cheaply, just search by OS number

A temporary way round the problem is to use the ebay website www.ebay.co.uk on your mobile or computer browser, enter your login details, click 'My eBay' and access purchases, bids and selling etc. I use it most of the time and only used the app occasionally, should I say, I used to use the app. Please contact ebay for further information and to express your feelings. The more people that do this the better.
We all hope that ebay will issue a patch for this, as it has caused so many problems. I reckon that 1000s and 1000s of people have been sent up the creek without a paddle.

You can get onto your account using google. I just have and have withdrawn all my funds.
if they’re going to play silly buggers then so am I . I’ve heard Vinted is pretty good anyway. Good luck!

If you're having problems. Take a deep breath, calm down and read some of the posts. We've all been through it, running around like headless chickens in a flap. Please read the link that tressygirl supplied. It's the announcement that eBay posted. I wish I had read it before trying to update the app for 3-4 hours:

Please just uninstall ebay app firstly and go shopping as normal with ebay amazon or anythingelse. Regards

You can avoid logging in by saving your details. That's what I do and can't remember the last time I logged in. Different strokes for different folks. I know how you feel though. I use Chrome. I don't know much about
other browsers. I imagine they all have a method of saving login details. It's a way round the current problem.

The app will only update if you have Android 10 or above, or, iOS 17 or above, it may be possible to upgrade to a version of it on iOS 16. I'm not clear about Apple devices but this is what I read.
If you don't have one of the above platforms, or can't update your device to the minimum requirements, your current options are:
Upgrade your phone.
Use the eBay website www.ebay.co.uk on a mobile phone or computer.
Wait for eBay to issue a patch, which may or may not happen.
