Is ComWales a part of eBay, and if it isn't why did eBay transfer me to that site

I looked for a specific item on ebay; found it and then found I had to go through ComWales.

Bought the item; but it has not been delivered and its impossible to get any human response from that site (which is similar to ebay).

The purchase has not been recorded on ebay;  it has been recorded on ComWales, but there is absolutely no response from them.

I have now threatened them with the police if I don't hear back within a reasonable time but if anyone else can throe some light on the matter I would be grateful.

It might be worthwhile to try to understand how eBay works.  You search on eBay but eBay sells nothing.  They list the items and when you click to buy you are dealing with the seller.  In this case "Comwales".  You buy from them but pay through eBay. 

Whether or not you like Paypal if you pay by Paypal you get exceptional protection as a buyer.  If you do not pay through Paypal then I'm afraid youdo not. Comwales has a good amount of feedback [some 3000+] and a reasonable reputation [98%] there is no reason to think there is any kind of scam.  You probably just need to be patient in view of the circumstances

It is wise to understand that as advised the way eBay works is very precise. The buyers and sellers work to eBay's rules and cannot invent ways to do things to suit themselves. EBay may not - as you mention - be for you

You're right, Ebay may not be for me. I rather prefer commercial organisations that know how to communicate - which is at least a two way process.

Comwales are registered business sellers with over 300 items listed on eBay....

as you say, you looked for a specific item, and comwales must have been near the top of your search

Yes, do have confirmation. I suspect it may have been the only reseller of the item in question.

did you buy through a listing or did you click on a sponsored link at the bottom of the page?

sponsored links have nothing to do with ebay,

the sellers pay to have their advert shown on ebay, if you click on the link you are taken to that sellers site and any transactions are directly with that seller and ebay aren't involved at any point.

At this point I couldn't be certain about what I clicked, but I'm reasonably certain I didn't click anything at the bottom of the page. But your point is well made. I think I will stick with Amazon in the future!

I had never heard of Comwales, and as far as I know it has nothing at all to do with ebay.

However, as long as you paid via Paypal you should be able to claim a refund by going to your payment in your PP account.

Didn't pay via PayPal (I find them functionally useless). Interesting you say ComWales has nothing to do with eBay - so why did I find them via eBay? I too have never heard of them, but proceeded on trust in Ebay. May have to revise that trust.

I could be wrong (I often am lol) it[s just that I personally have never seen it before. If you didn't pay via Paypal you can't claim through them, you will be reliant on Comwales customer support. If it's anything like ebay they will be short staffed atm because of the current crisis.

I can understand the staff shortage bit, which is why I gave them extra time to respond - but I suspect that they do have email in Wales!! So even a "looking into it" wouldn't go amiss.

Are they an Ebay seller? If so, why didn't you pay through Ebay checkout and via PayPal so that you were covered by Ebay's Money Back Guarantee...? Every Ebay seller has to offer this method of payment - no seller can make you pay in any other way. If you did, you chose to do so.

PayPal are a payment processor, so you don't need a PayPal account to use them. You simply pay with your debit or credit card. If you don't buy through Ebay checkout and via PayPal, Ebay can't help you.

Threatening a company with the police is bonkers (and guaranteed to get their backs up, especially at a time when businesses which are still managing to trade are stretched and stressed to the max, and may not even have staff on site to deal with emails).  Quite why you think that this is a police issue is a mystery. The police deal with crime, not with commercial transactions which may or may not have gone wrong. If your item doesn't arrive within a reasonable timeframe (which at the moment is 2 weeks minimum because carriers too are stretched to the max ,due to a hugely reduced workforce and a massive increase in online shopping), you lodge a claim with your card provider if you didn't pay through Ebay checkout and via PayPal. You don't call the police!

And with regard to your comment re. Wales and emails - that comes across as racist, so I would strongly advise you to remove it.

You are entitled to your opinion, but if someone takes your money that is tantamount to theft. I have tried to get in touch with them, but without any success. Its not difficult for them to make acknowledgement via the internet. And more importantly, I was put in touch with them via eBay, who also have no avenue for me to raise the matter. It is now getting on for nearer 20 days since the transaction, and is well beyond the time that ComWales specify to get in touch. But it is not possible to get in touch by internet. And there is no way that I can find of raising the matter with eBay. So I shout out loud hoping that someone at the other end responds. It doesn't take more than a couple of minutes from someone to say sorry, can't complete the order, here's your money back. But no response - not even from eBay, who I have used in the past, but will be reluctant to use in the future, since they do not appear to be interested, either. And everyone is advertising PayPal, yet another online organisation that never responds to correspondence, so I do not trust them either. The internet is a great system for communication - its just a pity that some major players having difficulty communicating. So far as I can see I have been scammed via Ebay, because no-one appears willing to communicate. so I will continue to shout loudly, in the hope that I do not have to take other remedial action.

Life is strange. I decided to check my bank account on the money deducted in respect of this transaction. None has been taken, ergo there is no transaction. Which could be why no article has been delivered!

What curious responses. I have proof positive that ComWales acknowledged my transaction, and assigned a delivery date. Yet did not take any money, or respond to any of my emails. And you judge me to be at fault! Either you are training to be politicians, or more likely are associated with Ebay, in which case I would be even more unhappy with the ethics of Ebay, having associates masquerade as independents. I suspect that this is the last time I ever use Ebay.
