I left negative feedback ( twice now ) but the feedback has gone. It does not appear on my feedback

I bought from a 'trusted' seller, and could not leave negative feedback for several days. When I did, the feedback shows as given on the item - but the actual feedback does not show in my list, and the seller also does not show the feedback.

It looks like the transaction never happened!

We rely on the feedback to identify poor sellers, if there is a mechanism to make negative feedback dissappear then this breaks the model that we rely on!

Sellers can apply to ebay to get neg f/b removed.  Usually only is with good reason.   Or eBay are now automatically removing negs relating to postal delays due to Covid.

I left -ve comment on one as the advertised volume was 300ml and delivered volume was 40ml. The other was because the gel was watered down and half empty ( actually the same seller with a different Ebay name - Postage and packaging was identical and the posting number was one out of the next series )

There was nothing in the wording of the first one - purely factual 'Odereded (sic) 300ml recieved 40ml' The second one was 'Same seller, different name, poor quality'.

I left negative feedback. It is the cornerstone of Ebay, you rely on the feedback score, so I left the feedback as a warning to anyone else.

That is a poor response by Ebay actually. There was no notification by Ebay. I would have thought at least they would have notified me.

When it is so obviously a con, why bother setting up an argument? just leave the negative feedback, and move on.

Then others can avoid those sellers.

**As this is not the case, EBAY *must* advise you that the negative feedback will be removed on request. Else the integrity of the feedback system is questionable.

When negative feedback is removed, the person leaving the feedback must get notified.

what argument?

you receive something that isn't as described,


you go to the resolution centre, you get your money refunded, the seller gets a defect on their account, you get to leave feedback that isn't removed,


the seller gets enough defects and gets removed from ebay


ebay don't have to notify you that they have removed your feedback

But eBay DO warn you! You can find it either by going to seller centre or typing in leaving feedback at help/ contact at top of page it is very clear the reasons for removal..you have just failed to read them I’m afraid....

Please show me where it says that the seller can remove the negative feedback if I dont negotiate with them first?

1) You should try to resolve. Not you MUST try resolve.
2) The feedback becomes part of the sellers PERMANENT record.
3) The feedback should be fair factual and relate to the transaction.

I dont read anything else in this note, which is from the EBAY help pages.

@ pixiesen2012: I have gone through the process once before, with a seller from China. It seemed simple, but several weeks later I was still spending time fending off emails asking for me to leave a good feedback if they refunded me amounts of money. The item was under £5 It is not worth my time getting a £2 refund to leave good feedback. It is also basically fraud. I agree I sent you something not described. I will give you half the money back if you leave me good feedback. I did email ebay about this at the time, they were not bothered. The integrity of the feedback system falls away if feedback is removed without notification by a seller who has stood up to their end of the deal.

you just open a case


wait 8 days then ask ebay to step in, it is quick and painless

the seller gets a defect against their account and when they get enough ebay restrict them.
