I have had various returned items turning up at my address, which are not mine. Is this a scam?

I have received four parcels in the past month to my address, but with a name I do not recognise. I opened one and it was face masks that had been returned to the seler. I assume the other packages contain the same.

Is this somehow a scam? I contacted the seller and they said 'I had my address listed wrong, I've changed it now'. They did not ask me to send on the returned items or put back in the post or anthing...

It's not a scam as you have received items,  and no one has asked you for money.

The seller needs to pay for the return postage if they want their items sending back.

Not quite understanding how this ended up with you correcting your address in this matter?

The seller told OP they had the address wrong and have now changed it. OP didnt change the address.

Apparently people get paid to leave reviews so theres a temptation to have multiple accounts, and they use your address and a fake name. Contact Ebay and ''Qmaz*n'' customer services; you should be able to check if accounts with other names use your address.

All very confusing ...

But if the Seller who these should have arrived with doesn't give you their address so you can send these errant parcels to where they SHOULD have gone what can you do?

Ask them for a forwarding address - at the moment how they have made this mistake remains a mystery to me if the seller is a person you don't know at all / isn't a friend or relative or somebody maybe playing a prank on you - who presumably would be someone you were aware of or knew well enough for them to pull this on you ...

At the moment you as far as I see it are not in the wrong in any way. You're in posession of somebody else's merchandise, yes. But through their mistake that they have now effectively admitted to you.

So we are back to without their address to forward their items you are in posession of - what can you do?

I certainly wouldn't be worried that you are breaking the law in any way given where this situation is as I suggest in my last sentence. I hope this helps you and puts your mind at rest if you are anxious.

It could be that they are using a fake address because Ebay wont let them register an account using their own.
