It could well be that the story of Adam and Eve has nothing to do with the creation story, it was simply put at the start of the Bible by the compilers at a much later date.

A pond in Florida that held more than 150 skeletons buried 8,000 years ago, many still with intact brain tissue, has been saved from development.

NEANDERTHALS PASSED ALONG DIABETES RISK GENE

CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS—Scientists have determined that a variation of a gene that increases the risk of a person developing type 2 diabetes by 25 percent was likely introduced into human populations by Neanderthals more than 60,000 years ago. Half of people with a recent Native American lineage, including Latin Americans, have the gene, SLC16A11, as do 20 percent of East Asians. The newly seqeuenced, high quality Neanderthal genome, taken from a female toe found in Siberia's Denisova Cave, also included the variant, and researchers say that analysis suggests that Neanderthals introduced it into the human genome when they intermixed with modern humans, after the latter left Africa 60,000 to 70,000 years ago. According to the findings from the completed Neanderthal genome, roughly two percent of the genomes of today's non-African humans are comprised of Neanderthal DNA.

ARUSHA REGION, TANZANIA—Paranthropus boisei is an early human ancestor first identified in 1959 when the anthropologist Mary Leakey found a skull with a large jawbone and cranium in northern Tanzania. Scientists today are saying that Paranthropus boisei had a gorilla-like upper body and was capable of adapting to both arboreal and t..., based on research of a 1.34 million-year-old partial skeleton found in Tanzania's Olduvai Gorge more than two years ago. The arm bones, in particular, are prominent suggesting the roughly four-foot-tall biped that evolved 2.3 million years ago had a powerful upper body. "We are starting to understand the physiology of these individuals of this particular species and how it actually adapted to the kind of habitat it lived in," said University of Colorado Denver anthropologist Charles Musiba, who was part of the research team. "We knew about the kind of food it ateit was omnivorous, leaning more toward plant materialbut now we know more: how it walked around and now we know it was a tree climber."

Re: Why do they call it Christmas "Eve"? Is there also a Christmas Adam??

The Biblical creation theory cannot possibly be true because the Earth has been completely frozen possibly several times, the last time around 650 million years ago. Long before that, around 2½ billion years ago there was the Oxygen catastrophe.

The reasons we believe that, is not because of simple belief or reliance on a supposed "historical record", it's because the evidence for those events is still available in the Planetary sediments and rocks.

Re: Why do they call it Christmas "Eve"? Is there also a Christmas Adam??

There is a disturbing number of people who firmly believe the earth was created about 6,000 years old, this idiot expert on the subject talks a load of unmitigated rubbish but people still swallow it.

You cannot attempt to prove that there was no creation to a committed creationist because they have a completely closed mind, the Bible is the word of God because it says so in the Bible and therefore everything in the Bible is true, end of discussion.

I have to admit feeling just a little disappointment that only the non believers have contributed to this thread? Which I must say has been very interesting & good natured. In the immortal words of a much missed comic, RIP. "May your God , Gods go with you" Sam.

Re: Why do they call it Christmas "Eve"? Is there also a Christmas Adam??

I don't think that's the reason.

After many such discussions on here and elsewhere, they're just sitting glumly there, arms folded repeating "I know, I know what's right......"

There's no discussion really, their flawed fact is all they can constantly repeat. It's tragic really that we've come so far only to have the World in turmoil because some people insist upon living by a flawed belief.

It's only controversial if someone wants to make it so.

Some of those sitting there with glum faces all annoyed are incapable of discussing anything surrounding the subject. They've been so indoctrinated and brainwashed that far as they're concerned, that's the end of the matter.

It's very difficult to defend the indefensible particularly when the defender brushes aside anything which refutes their argument relying instead on unsupported statements or 'facts' which evidence shows as being simply wrong.

Re: Why do they call it Christmas "Eve"? Is there also a Christmas Adam??

I have seen a person comment that they firmly believed all that the Bible said about Jesus.

She also said that she didn't believe in Neanderthals. Smiley Sad

You cannot argue with a person like that.

Re: Why do they call it Christmas "Eve"? Is there also a Christmas Adam??

In this country we can talk about it up to a point but are always in fear of coming up against a brick wall. I am not against faith , it gives people comfort etc. but I don't need people trying to convert me & ramming it down my throat at every opportunity, if I want or need it I'm quite capable of searching it out for myself. Nothing any person has told me has changed my mind , I'll stick with Mother Nature she at least proves it to me everyday. & no I'm not a tree dancer.
