Finally, Shaun Wright has released his finger-nail grip on the window ledge, and resigned.

It's a good lesson to everybody ( for those that STILL don't know it ) about just what a potent drug power is. More so even, for some, than money; they will cling onto it until the bitter end, either for themselves or for everybody else. Don't kid yourselves, with ALL power comes an agenda and that agenda WILL benefit those that hold the power............they'll make sure of that..............otherwise they don't see the point in having the power.

It's typical of elected members in these one-party councils, like the Labour towns in northern England or some of the Conservative counties. They know they'll get elected no matter what, and eventually they lose touch with reality and think they're untouchable whatever they do.

I cannot understand how he can continue to deny he knew nothing about the abuse.
If he's being honest about that, then it goes to heart of his dysfunctional management style.
As for the excuses by the children's department that they were afraid of being called racist is just rubbish, particularly when these Pakistani gangs had not only been flagged up by schools and various other individuals, but by other court cases involving these gangs. Those poor children were just considered not worth the effort it seems to me. What a truely appalling situation with weak and feeble arguments as to why nothing was done about it.

Mr Wright said he was stepping down to ensure the ''important issues'' outlined in the report could be discussed and considered ''without distraction''. I thought that's what his job was about? .......... .........
He is still to get his full pension. I wonder why? It doesn't occur to him (or some others it seems?) It was HIS job to know what was going on!!! He cant be in office for five years and then say he knew nothing about it? And less he takes the public for Idiots!!!
Smacks of one law for them, and one for us. No, he should not get a full pension for NOT doing his job. And no one being able to sack him has to be one the daftest things politicians have ever allowed. Then of course they only look so far .
